Nice video! Great Info. It makes me want to do my birfs. Can't wait. lol

I made a mention in another thread but just wanted to repeat that this DVD is great - prolly watched it over ten times now - and - only after watching it that many times I noticed two simple things that were weird:

First the assembly of the front "oil seal set" was slightly wrong - it should go (looking from the end of the axle in towards the diff) 1st the steel ring, then the rubber seal, then the felt seal and then the retainer plates. In the video on assembly the steel ring was in the middle but then several screens later it went on to the rear of the steering knuckle first followed by the rubber seal, the felt and the retainer plates. Someone musthave switched the order prior to the final fitting and I just did not want anyone to get that reversed and forget to switch it !?!

Second some gasket dropped out of position as the brake dust cover with gasket and metal seal were lifted onto the spindle. I am not so sure what gasket that is? It sorta looked like it was between the brake dust cover and the spindle? Did EM or Tim see that and then fix it? Or am I seeing things again? :D

Again, an excellent DVD, highly recommended.

Its hard to be a camerman, an instructor and a smartass all at once, so mistakes happen. :D As I recall, the ring and rubber seal were out of order but when it came time to button up the backing plates, I think we caught it. That's the nice thing about the ring having the cut in it, you can move it. As for the other gasket, I mention that in my printed insert (that should ship with every DVD.) I let the gasket between the knuckle housing and the brake backing plate fall, but we caught it and went back and fixed it.

Glad you liked it.

Okay cool, as always I prolly skipped the instructions (thus the reason the DVD is so cool, its like the instructions without the reading! Doh! :D ) and missed the mention of the gasket. Anyway, the DVD is super cool, I'm taking my time through the job as I write this. Everything is exactly like I like it - stereo on, sixes flowin, and being able to refer back and forth between the FSM, the DVD, and the FAQ on MUD!!! Am I overdoing it??? Of course I am ... and that's the way ahuh ahuh I like it! :flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

Seriously though, great DVD!

Thanks. I keep hoping Tim or I will get a call from the Academy for "Best Cinemaphotography In A Short Mechanical Comedy." :D

You got my vote, well after "Midgets on Motorcycles" of course; that's the cult classic "short mechanical comedy." :flipoff2: :D :flipoff2:

Is the DVD available in the wide-screen version with Dolby Digital and the director's commentary? :D

Its filmed in DV, but has been formatted to fit your screen. Its definitely a "director's cut." Rated PG for language and mild violence. I edited the part out where I hit Tim's thumb with the hammer, or we'd have been rated "R" for sure. :D

Is there a thread somewhere that lists all of those DVD's for sale?
Kinda like "Cruiser Maintenance/rebuild DIY DVD Library"?

Have you seen the movie "Misery" with Kathy Bates and was it Ed Harris?:D

OUCH!

Mot ;)

This makes me want to join in the fun. I think if every member tried to tackle projects filming the process (using a FSM for reference) it would make some of the maintenance woes seem not so hard. EGR valve issues, #6 spark plug, PHH, Birfs (done), Head Gasket, Snorkel, ARB install, Winch Install, Rear bumper (kaymar) install, Roof Rack install, include some blue prints for a simple storage box in PDF formate, how to wire foglamps, OME 3" lift, and the list could go on and on if we all followed the fine example Harris County LandCruisers set.

He knocked the absolute crap out of my thumb with a hammer!

I got him back by dumping very used parts washer fluid into his diet Dr Pepper :grinpimp: I don't think he noticed. A true gear head!
