I have a rear drivers side shock that has un-threaded from the attachment and flopping around. I lowered it back onto the the hole, and it is kinda in the right place but threads still show. Do I need a new one, or do I take it off and re-thread into the hole? I did not install them, and am not sure I know what to do, or have the tools to do so.

Rusty_TLC's '98 came with Bilsteins. When we removed the Billies to install the OME's we discovered one of the rears had, like yours, become unthreaded/separated. I don't recall if the threads were boogered up or not...me thinks so. If the threads on yours are good then I'd reassemble with at least 242 Loctite or preferably red Loctite and call it a day.

Or you can use this as an excuse to tell the wife you need a new round of suspension parts

One of my rear bilsteins came un-threded too. Never fixed it since a lift and OME's were in the works. I would follow Spresso's advice regarding the loctite. But be careful you don't scratch the pistion shaft. There really isn't any way to tighten the top fittting without the shaft turning.

Also the Billies are quarnteed for life. So give them a call and see what they say. I need to get off my rear end and do that so I can finally sell my used set.

Let us know what you find out.
