Bilstein shock dust covers??

Hi all sorry for the newbie question, but I am in the process of replacing the OEM shocks with the bilsteins on my 99 , and all they have is a fairly flimsy blue rubber dust cover as opposed to the metal ones on the original shocks. Is this OK with just the rubber?

The manual with the Billy's says you may have to remove your old dust covers and put them on the billy's, but I dont think the Toyota shocks come apart.

So my question is will they be ok with just the rubber covers? Or am I missing something on the toyota shocks? Seems like rocks and debris could punture them...??

they are great, just run the bilstein ones.

Do yourself a favor. Don't run dust covers at all! They collect dirt and grime and keep it on your shock shaft causing the seals to wear. Remove them and throw them in the trash.

Are you going to do them yourself?If you are just a heads up the rears are APITA,you might have cut the bolts off and you only have about 2" between the body and the bolt,the ABS wires are in the way.

Hey thanks for the input, finished putting them on and they ride great. BTW mine is a 99 with 95k miles on it, and the front right shock was completely dead! I had this really bad wobble in the steering wheel when going over bumps and could not figure it out, and quite frankly didnt think the shocks would fix it, but it is completely gone! New roters, brakes and shocks in the front and it drives like new. Didnt put the billys on the back though. Im gonna lift it when its time for tires and didnt want to spend anymore than I had to right now if Im going to replace them later anyway. Thanks again for all the comments!
