So I will qualify the big bump is relative to an 80 series. I have checked a couple of tanks with highway, off road and then some highway and town driving. I have seen an indisputable 1+ to 2+ mpg increase since I replaced pugs, wires, cap and rotor. I also replaced the spark plug seals, valve cover gasket and distributor seal. I know the tune up helped but I think I may have sealed an unknown vacuum leak as well. I used all genuine Toyota parts from CDan. I was really impressed with the wire set.:bounce::bounce2:

Cool! Since I replaced my intake pipe, my around-town MPG seems to have improved by about 1+, but I haven't run enough through it to be sure. The old tube didn't have any obvious gaping cracks, but definitely had some cracking going on - after duct-taping it on our yellowstone trip after an 8 MPG day, we never dropped below 10.5

What's your average now?

Filled in Avon and then about 2 hours on dirt roads, some pretty slow then back home via I70/I25. A little around town and got over 15mpg. The second tank was about 2/3 highway and 1/3 in town and got 14+ :bounce::bounce2:

Not getting the air metered properly will make a big difference. Sounds like you were running pretty rich. Glad you got an improvement.

The other thing I was happy to find was all the spark plugs looked similar, even number 6. The plugs were in there very tight. Obviously in too long and probably without antiseize. I thought I was going to break one or two getting them out:eek: All the seals I took out were hard, as expected.

That's great Leon. Nice work. I was watching some automotive tv the other day and they claimed you could pick up another MPG by switching to all synthetic. Significant investment though.
