On the subject of warped stock rotors…

I kept getting warped rotors w/OE pads/rotors. Switched to the Akebono performance pads I’d used for my IS350 to reduce brake dust/squealing and magically no more warping/shuddering after 15-20k miles. So, from my unscientific trial/error - it appears it’s the pads that cause the issue rather than the rotors.

yeah same thing for me, i switched to akebano and got ~50k miles before my calipers needed to be replaced. Im hoping tundra setup lasts longer than land cruiser 08-15, once I ran through a set of trd brakes in 2k miles (ko2 tires were missing chunks).

Once upon a time we could get 2-piece rotors built to fit into the stock caliper as part of an uparmored 200-series project. To my knowledge these parts are now unobtanium. Which is fine, because we can just toss stock rotors back on.. but what if the calipers depended on it?

These were from Performance Friction. I think the pads are still available but the nice rotors are long gone.

Is this front and rear? Can you tell a huge difference?
First pix is front, second is the rears. They are more responsive with no signs of fading, however I haven’t put that much miles on them. Big improvement over oem so far.
