First I have found nirvana. My 2 favorite things... Cruisers and electronics. I have found my way over here from the 100 series group. I am an electrician, I have an electrical engineering education and in a past life I was a concert PA man. I roll in a 2002 cruiser.
My question is... What is the best computer platform to base a car computer / media computer on. I have a 7" android (HTC flyer) , (2) viliv x70 , 7" windows computer, 1 is running xp the other win 7, and wife has a 2nd gen IPad. I heard of a Windows program called street deck which I originally planned on running on one of the vilivs but the author hasn't supported it in months. Any suggestions?
All of these devices have built in Gps but only the vilivs will usb host

lots of options. If you haven't found this already, here is a very good link http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/

mp3car has examples of all kinds of car computers and variants.

I have a 2.5Ghz Dual Core i3 1155 Mini ITX Car PC installed under my driver seat. I mainly use it for topographic map software offroad or when the truck is stopped, so i am just running windows 7 without a car specific front end.

yeah..I think for most stuff a tablet is impossible to beat in the suggested environment.
I'm going to look around for an IPAD2 to use as an off-road topo display
