here's another cheap/good option:
http://www.desertrat.com/kc_hilites/kc_daylighters.htm

I've got a set of the 150W - for $80 they kick ass (plus they have the old school look with the daylighter smilies!) - I bought a set in back, but if I had it all to do over again, I'd go with chrome - my only complaint is that the black paint is already oxidized after 1 Texas summer.

Mike S,
Boy, that sucks ???. I just bought a set for a buddy a few months ago (for a light pod on his rally vehicle). I'm a little disappointed that they still advertize the price on the web site. My appologies. I'll report out if I find them anywhere else.

A case of "too good to last"? Perhaps. I am still looking, let me know if you can find them... I would buy a couple of pairs.

Thanks for all your help. The people on this board are great!

I like all lights Hella ... but the Hella 500 i put on my bumper for $60 are great

Kling-On,

What model hella's are those?

OK, I think I'll go for Hella 500s and upgrade the bulb to 100 or 120 watts, install a 40 amp relay, fuse, etc. I can get this done for not much money, so if it doesn't do the job, I can upgrade to MORE light.

Question - I would like to run this thru a standard Toyota fog light rocker switch in my dash... will the switch hold up?

That's what I thought. Highest watt H3 bulb I find is 100W - this is where I will start.

Thanks for all your help everyone!

Thanks. I can see the bumper mounted lights clearly (not!) in your avatar photo...

130W PIAA bulbs will work in the Hella 500 right?

Mike

the Hella 500 are OK but if you run a 100 watt bulb and hit some water they might crack :(

for bit more then the Hella the IPF 968 is a great light MUCH better than the Hella(I had a set) I have a set off the IPFs on the 100 series and had a set on the 45

Don't waste your money with PIAA bulbs, just get a good standard halogen like a Hella($10). The PIAA bulbs are nothing but hipe.

i know they are not the best, but i run 4 pro comps up front, 2 pencil, 2 wide, 100 or 130 w and they light it up pretty well on the darkest nights, and in the caves. reach is decent.
