Finally snagged a set of @BenCC fog lights for our 06 LX. Quality is top notch, which isn't a surprise since we already rock a Scangauge mount from Ben. The included wiring harness is a really nice touch.

One thing us LX folks have to deal with when replacing the OEM fogs, or bumper, is what to do with the turn signals. There are a few write ups on this, but I figured I'd share what we ended up doing.

I first removed the OEM fog light/turn signal housings from the bumper. This is done by removing the 3 10mm nuts from the back of each (2 on the radiator side, 1 on the tire side).

I was able to reach these without raising the truck or even turning a wheel, so didn't bother taking a pic. One side was a little snug, but a little tap on the back popped it out of the bumper.

Once I removed the housings, I pulled the turn signal bulb and it's respective receptacle. My hope was that I could relocate this into the corner light housings.

To remove the corner light housings, there's just a single Philips screw at the top. You can then pop the assembly out by prying up from the front-bottom of it.

This little white plug is what retains the light into the bracket, if it helps to visualize what you are pulling against when you pop it out.

Then the corner light should come free. I had to pry on the tab for the screw a little bit to get it out. I could see this being potentially brittle in some climates, but it didn't give too much trouble.

Here's the section I intended to cut out of the rear of the corner light housing.

I filled the cavity of the housing with a shop towel, to help keep debris down. A cutting wheel on the Dremel knocked off the old boss for the old bulb, then a step bit opened it up enough to fit the turn signal bulb holder in place.

I taped the hole as a way to make it easier to mark where the tabs for the bulb housing needed room, then cut these with the Dremel and filed them flat.

Doesn't need to be perfect, this was sufficient to allow the bulb to twist into place and seal.

The stock turn signal bulb now fits fine in the corner housing.

The factory wiring reached up to the corner lights, as long as you cut a couple of the zip ties along the way.

I should add that it's possible that you could just re-wire the factory corner lights to be turn signals, mine have been burnt out for years, so I didn't have a bulb to test that theory with.

By the same token, you could likely install something like this and have corner lights + turn signals, I may try that out eventually since it should fit in the opening all the same.

For now, just loving the fogs.
