Anyone with Battle Born 100 batteries should view this. I have no idea how widespread the problem is. This YouTube was just posted on an RV forum I moderate.

Thanks for posting this! For a supposed, key word supposed, high end LFP battery...along their high end price (relative to LFP prices today) Battleborn needs to take care of this problem for sure.

Glad I fabbed my own LFP battery.

Definitely a very poor design and in no way has is it 'intentionally' been implemented to provide protection.

I get that the reviewer is young and he's upset with the response, but the video would have had much more impact if he had focused on the measurements, thermal readings and evidence of the plastic melting/deforming and presenting it factually versus emotionally. Gets more clicks I guess :)

The company response he was showing is written by a marketing twit and they are covering their butt to prevent a large recall that would likely kill the company.

They probably get away with the poor design since most folk will be charging at maybe 25A max and will also not be drawing 100A. General use of a house battery is probably 10 - 20A draw max. Thermal dissipation is I^2 * R, so heat loss goes up with current squared. Poor contact will increase R. A time bomb design, especially in a high vibration vehicle install.

cheers,
george.
