For a couple of reasons, I will likely be switching my main battery to an Interstate 31 AGM7. The only catch is that battery has threaded studs for terminals. I have found some post adapters that screw onto the threaded studs, so that it will work with my LX terminals. Has anyone done this or have a fact based knowledge on why this wouldn't work well (the adapters, not the group 31)?

Dealer is likely letting me swap my bad group 27 and upgrade to a 31, but they only sell interstate and this seems like the best fit for me as it is advertised as a great starting and deep cycle battery.

Sorry, I should have specified its a top side threaded stud on the Interstate 31 AGM7.

This is what I'm talking about, screws onto the post: http://www.remybattery.com/Stud-to-Post-Conversion-Adapters-P4948.aspx I looked at Slee's group 31 kit and one is included, so I think it will be fine. I'll just need to find a positive terminal end with a little longer shank on it, due to the battery post located near the center of the battery.

Thanks for the suggestion. Did you have to cut the negative cable to do that? I'm going to keep it as stock as possible. I found some copper bar on amazon for cheap, so I can extend the positive terminal. So if I can get Slee to throw in an extra adapter with the group 31 kit, I should be all set.

It will work just fine. You'll need an adapter for the negative side as well, or at least I did on my 99. The ground to the starter wasn't long enough. Not sure why Slee doesn't include both the positive and negative. Put a little blog of dielectric grease on the stud before tightening it down.

Yep, I'll need 2 adapters to accomplish the installation of the Interstate battery. The picture shows only two threaded posts in the middle.

I was planning/hoping the negative cable would be long enough to reach the center of the battery. It sounds like I should be prepared if it doesn't. Sorry I'm not trying to waste anyone's time here, as most folks are going to install the Diehard 31M, and won't have these obstacles as the diehard has two threaded posts near the edge. But I should be getting this $310 interstate for around $200 with the "trade-in" so it's worth a little effort to try and make if work.

Check the stud sizes. The DHM battery is a 3/8" POS and 5/16" NEG. I wasn't able to find the 5/16" threaded adapters anywhere locally and had to order online. Slee includes a 3/8" POS adapter with their aux battery tray kit, but I had to buy the 5/16" adapter on eBay.

I'm finally doing the group 31 switch today. I got the regular diehard 31m. It looks like I'll need, at a minimum, two 5/16 stud-to-post adapters. As stated before the slee kit comes with one 3/8 adapter which does not fit the threaded post on the regular diehard 31m.

I'll update with pictures when I get it sorted out.

Got the 31 battery in today. The negative cable was long enough to reach, but not the positive side. So I made a piece out of copper to connect. I really wished the slee kit includes both sizes of adapters and a solution for the positive side for not being long enough.

I used a Grp31 DHP marine battery.

FWIW, we designed the kit around the group 31 Marine battery and we supply all the parts to make that work. Trying to cover all the batteries that might work just does not work since it will be a moving target.

No worries. That's all I could get my hands on at the time. I'll get the platinum when this one dies. I don't really like how the positive side looks with this battery, but it works.
