Very good front flex results

Hello all,

Sorry for yet another post on flex pics, but here they are....

But first, my problem with the FZJ80 has always been the unbalance between the front and rear flex.

As we all know the rear needs no help at all, so I decided to leave the rear swaybar on and remove only the front. I then removed the front swaybar and also did the "hitch-pin" mod by removing the driver's side front control arm bolt. The results were quite surprising. I should mention that the suspension setup is OME J's all around with 1" Slee front spacers and 24" Rancho RS5000 shocks.

love the flex!!

I have wheeled with the front sway bar hooked up as well as unhooked, and I really find that the truck feels way more balanced off road with the front bar unhooked. Haven't tried the hitch pin mod yet though. It will be interesting to see how that changes it further.

i would be a little hesitant on the hitch pin mod. don't want the brackets to break, although i havent heard anyone breaking one yet.

Fully droop the side with the pin removed and check arm to tie rod clearance. Have seen bent tie rods with this setup using stock arms.

IIRC you need to turn the wheel lock to lock to fully check this.

I've been running sans front sway bar and bolt for several years, along with narrowed frame-end bushing eyes. I wouldn't call it balanced, but certainly improved.

bit hijack .. opinion on those new MTR kevlar tires .. ?

My friend/buisness partner and I both run them (he has the SAS extended cab in the pics. I have about 9,200 miles on mine and he has around 1,500 on his. We like them, mine are wearing a bit, and getting a little cupped. Mine also seems to slide more in mud than his, most likely due to more weight.

Overall I do like them, just wished they wouldn't wear as quickly.

last hijack ..

did you said ( dunno if you have the experience ) they have softer compound than old MTR style ?

And you can compare 'em against BFG similar size . ?

can you compress the drivers side and drop the pass. tire so we can see how far the radius arm comes out of the front mount?

Got a picture???/ I'm trying to picture what this would do exactly

you can beef up the front bracket to do the hitch pin mod without worrying about breaking the thing. Check out Alkaline747trio's rotw to see how he did it.
