Your plan is solid. I use compressed air to clean the aystem, and also to check for leaks using soapy water. I've also used nitrogen for the same thing.

You can try to use a socket on the main shaft nut to break it loose he man style. If it doesn't come loose then you got serious issues.

Don’t you tempt me with a good time Gypsy!

Got the compressor replaced and and charged up and she's blowing nice and cold 🥶🥶

Had 2 allens that hold the top plate on the compressor round out when I switching it over to the new one. Had to weld about 10 different bolts to it before I could get the new bolt not to snap or weld not to break. Was just gonna buy a new one but those plates are not easy to find.

suspected leak on mine… dye added and recharged to full. Strange it blows cold most of the time but super hot/humid day after 4-hours of wheeling… and driving back for at high highway speeds, keeping cutting off and would have turn off AC and turn back on and cold again.

Temp gauge stayed perfectly middle. Have a Scancode 3 coming - will get some exact engine temps… is the AC Cut Off sensor for engine temp different than normal temp gauge measurement point? Could they disagree?

They are separate sensors. The dash gauge might not say it’s to hot, but the ac one will shut it off
