Yep, it's a good lookin' truck.
But I think the scammers keep trying to hook a sucker.
The Calif registration is at least a year old; can't quite make out the location off the distant signs. Does a window sticker say Kern River??
Notice they have stolen a newbie's ebay identity--this changes each time they run the listing.

I have sent emails to these folks before. If they are like the other scammers, they will waver on where the truck is located--they will be out of one state, and the truck in another locale. The con eventually winds up with them telling the new winning buyer to wire them the money, or a substantial deposit, by Western Union, which cannot be ever recovered or traced.

From past experience, eventually the ebay police will pull the listing once someone complains loud enough. Sometimes the crooks gather names from folks who email with questions. Then after the listing is pulled, they write back with a second-chance offer saying the winning bidder backed out, but you can buy it for a great price--again just trust them and wire the money ahead. The hope is that greed, and a juicy unbelievable price, will get one of us to cross the line, and send them some money.

But I keep thinking, the original owner, who originally listed the truck, might be on one of the enthusiast boards. Has anyone out there ever seen this truck in the past? It would be nice to catch these jerks in the act.

I am pretty sure this same truck has shown up on Craigslist too, once in Las Vegas and at least once in Sacramento as I recall.

Some of you might find this follow-up interesting:

As anticipated: Ebay pulled this listing after about 12 hours and maybe a dozen Bidders. Although I didn't bid anything, I played with the Lister and asked some typical questions, trying to flesh out their location. But no response.

Then two days after being pulled, I get an email from the lister, offering me the truck for $2900 and free shipping by DAS through their brother-in-law!! So, still fishing, I asked a few more questions and for a phone number, and got another response, the lister claiming to be deaf from an accident, but offering an actual address of the truck to go see up in a tiny, small town in Northern Calif. Googling that address produced a legitimate Real Estate company at that location.

Since I am in Southern Calif and unable to easily drive there, I left several messages for the Broker, who just called me back today. Says she never saw or heard of the truck or the lister's name, but believes the photos may have been taken local to her, maybe even behind her office. Interestingly enough, someone else from cyberspace tracked the Broker down and gave her the same info as I did about the truck and owner's name.

I asked her to see if her local sheriff will probe a bit--maybe get ebay ready for the next time the truck shows up.

If anybody here knows of or has seen an early-Seventies orange-ish light brown 45 pickup, you might want to let the real owner know somebody's trying to sell it for him!!
