I was planing on turning my knuckles on my front axle soon and adding a hi steer. It was suggested that I upgrade to mini truck knuckles. I was looking at the trail gear web site and like the six stud knuckles. could I use these on my 40 axle? The guy on the phone from trail gear was no help. I was planing on upgrading the axle shafts front and rear. I found many options for the front and the rear only found one so far. What axles has anyone used for the rear?

I know a 77 has the longer birfs, but they are still fine spline. Will everything not just bolt up to the 6 shooters?

Good point I was thinking he had an older drum brake axle. Seems like it should just bolt up.

Some 6 shooters, high steer, Longfields and a set of Aisin hubs should be all you need to upgrade the front to 37" tires.

For the rear I would see how it holds up as I haven't seen that much of an improvement with the Poly axles on other rigs. If you start breaking rear axles, I would look at D60, or a hybrid axle and be done with it. Hi9 makes some cool stuff, and I think you can get creative with an offset Diamond 60 rear.

I have disks up front from the factory . I will be running a 6.2 diesel,37inch tires, hydro assist and dual cases. This is why i asked about the upgrades. Thanks for the replies this will help me with the project.

I think the recipe for the front will be six shooter knuckles , the hi steer from 4x4 labs , lock rite, and dirty 30s. The back I will leave alone until the 609 is built.
