Slow and steady wins the race...

So your not going to turbo the 77 ?

You did read the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare" as a child didn't you.:D Allow me to refresh your memory ..Tortoise ( diesel )..
...Hare ( gas ).:)

Sounds like the early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese situation

Hit the nail on the head
Even with a turbo and intercooler it will not be the same as your turbo d gas pot

Yo Clint, Just remember we can actually go faster but it is so much fun to go slow just to p*ss off the gas burners who are stuck behind
us.:D

Apparently a finely tuned 1hz with a good exhaust, turbo, intercooler and boost comp will go quicker than a 1hd-t

A few weeks away with pulling on a turbo:)

What about a finely tuned 1hdt with all those goodies compared to a hz-t ?

Up for the challenge for sure.
I have a friend who just bought an 81 with an extreme vb, water to air intercooler and a 3" exhaust.

Turbo will be purchased in the following weeks here. We will see if the intercooler is in the cards right away.

Should go good when I have similar toys on. I am excited to take the truck for a rip and see how it goes in comparison to my truck and my old 81.

Sounds like your becoming the rabbit out of the turtle and rabbit story ;)

After wheelin in mates hz-t 105s,79s,80s and a couple of hdj80s the hdjs seem to have a bit more sting.
Would still be interesting to put hzt vs hdt to a test

A part of me thinks that the 1hd-t with the vb auto would go better than a manual

s***ing engines mainly .

One company I worked for trailed them for a wile and got rid of them got a few 78's and 79's instead and now are buying Nissans .

Didn't Nissan just release a v8 TD?
these trucks excel in harsh conditions
Making stuff more complicated definitely makes reliability go down.
