The Aux Aussie tank will not work as I need 2 spares for the rocky areas we hunt(dont want a tire carrier on the rear bumper either as had a 4-rnnr with one for years and I much prefer the easy access of the LC).

You have just defined the OEM subtank in the textbook manner.

Your resolution is an OEM subtank. It fits above the existing spare tire carrier and holds 13 gallons.

Dan--Will it still fit after I did the spare "lift" mod? If so "sold American" and please send me one. If it is OEM I assume CC Toyota would install it.

Thanx, Jim

I do not believe there is enough room between the tank and the spare crossmember to enable you to keep the washers there.

I doubt you would be able to get a dealer to do it. Even if you did, this job is labor-intesive to say the least and it would get really expensive very quickly. I have over 30 hours invested in mine.

The only source for cost-effective tanks is the OZ wreckers market.

OZ subtanks

I priced a few in the OZ wrecker market and you can find them ~$350-400 as quoted but its difficult and expensive to ship them. Ocean freight has minimums and air will run you $400+. I think it would be easier to work through one of the domestic suppliers that get them every so often. If anyone can find a reasonable ocean freight service than were talking a different story.

MAF has gotten them off and on in the past as has $OR.

I got mine from MAF, Steve was very helpful.
