You don't happen to have dimensions and how they are mounted and closeup of what they look like on the car? I've never seen them in real life. Also how do you find water drainage with them? Are they on an angle?

Another super rare V! Nice one mate, I did see that for sale. There's a bloke on here called @west aussie who has been investigating a column shift/1F swap to return his early 40 to stock. If anyone's knows he'll know. Looking forward to watching this build.

PS. @GreggC - did you get my PM re doors etc?

Terrain Tamer santa claus arrived today. I'm rebuilding the front swivel hubs. All the seals are shot. There is more grease in the drum brakes than in the hub. Unfortunately I don't think the last time it was done the seals were quite right hence the failure. Interestingly the hub nut is 49mm not 54mm. I had to get a 1'15/16 socket. They told me I needed the SH1 kit:

and also the 43204-60020 seal set which has a 2 piece metal plate:

Would someone be able to tell me the order the seals are installed? When I took my knuckle apart it never had that smaller doughnut foam one (third seal from the top).

My knuckle also has this metal plate. It is like a dust shield. Is this essential and if anyone knows where I can find a replacement:

I'm impressed by the quality of the Terrain Tamer kits. Koyo bearing is standard in the kits. I would recommend them. I received some other parts from a fleabay site and the quality was just not there. They did forget one seal pack because of a communication mixup but hopefully that will be fixed next week.

lovely old toyota; im quiet jealous. only ever seen one of these in the flesh. would love one for my stable! would very much doubt yours was ever column shift. seems to me australian landcruisers were only column shift in 61-early63 (at which point there was a new generation transmission introduced.) this is unlike our american cousins. and 1f motors are far from impossible to find. which leaves original seats as a real sticking point. but yours are compy and a nice old school mod; run with them i reckon

Looks like a good old cruiser you got there.
About the seal. If you have a good look at your steel dust seal, that felt seal fits in it unless someone has changed it.
As for the spindle nuts size, they are right. They went from 49 to 54mm around 1978.
All the best with the build.

That makes sense. Thanks. Now to pick out the old seal.

I discovered a few cool features. It has a vent above the windscreen. It works great. You open it with a lever above the rear view mirror. Seems someone put spray foam around the edges ? wind noise maybe. Anyone know if it came out of the factory with a rubber seal?

The front vent windows has had replacement glass cut and sikaflexed in. Looks professionally done:

I'm amazed the hood ornament survived all these years.

It came with an old school handwinch. It can be unbolted and mounted to the back bumper so you can winch yourself out backwards. Anyone know much about the DAWN winch?

Cool vent you got there. As for the winch, judging by the construction of it, I bet it's older than the vehicle.

interested how that terrain tamer kit works for you; let us know how it works for you. i bought same kit for my 61 few weeks back on spec but havnt tried fit it up yet.

Anyone got a picture of the original FJ45lv front floorpans and supporting beams underneath? Cut out mine and finding lots of layers of sheetmetal and tin worm. I think it has had a few patches over the years. Would like to see a picture of the original bench seat mounts and seat belt mounts if you have them.

Thanks I'll take a look. Anyone got a spare LV front seat for sale and willing to ship it to Australia? Turns out the Dawn company still exists. I sent them an email and they sent me this brochure. They stopped making my DAWN winch 40 years ago.

Can anyone tell me if side markers on a FJ45V are a factory thing? Looks like the PO put stick on reflectors to fill in the hole. Tossing up if I should weld them up.

Can someone tell me what was originally here? Seems to have a bolt on left and right rear seat floorpans on the depression of original pressing. Doesn't seem to be mounted to chassis at this point.

Can someone take photos of how the seat belts are mounted front and rear?
