Hey John, I think I understand what you are trying to say...I also thought it looked somewhat familiar...in a weird sort of way :meh:

that thing rocks!:D

i see you went for straw on the seat though, i would have to say that my personal preferance would be some type of alfalfa but thats just me.
lol just messin with ya, looks sweet.

First the engine number has no "F" stamp at all,
RHF wheel is toyota but has the hubcap clips in place "and still in good cond",
the front drive shaft is out and in the rear tub coz thge PO said he had the front diff rebuilt, and hadnt got to the uni's yet.
ID plate on the RHS fireewall is hand ingraved 25, but as you can see in the photo's the chassis reads 28,

Will post up more photos when I get back to work,

And YES it is for sale! But there is a waiting line.

If there is a pic you are after let me know and will post up asap

Cheers cammo

the back end should have a very rover look to it...as said before they were imported as cowl/chassis and coach/works built the rear body...the land rover has been a big seller in OZ since being introduced in oz in very late 12/48? The only frame of reference that the builders had available were rovers...sooo...they have a very rover look...and that wouldnt have been a bad thing since the rover was the king down under for 10 years.

TLC's were introduced to OZ in 58? AFAIK making this fj28 one of the 1st imported

what is the frame # for the Thiess rig

the back end should have a very rover look to it...
Moin, moin Johnny ,
designer of these days had not such a big creative leeway to draw this cars Rover, Toyo, Jeep, Fiat, Alfa... they are all similar ;)

Does anyone know what the softtop would have been like?, after inspection it looks like no back panel behind the seats, could it have been a full body softtop or was there a top that just covered the front seats? There is 4x pole holes in the ute sides, and 2x holes where the "rover B" pillar is.
Will also need to track down the 3x Fuse blocks in the engine bay (1 each "fender" and firewall) a customer told me they are the same as a 58 caddy, (he is the caddy king)
would love to get the wiring sorted out and try to fire this engine up.

this is the "Thiess" toyota...the 1st sent over to australia: Toyota LandCruiser FJ25

ohhh btw...this is not the original soft top...it is a reproduction from the original canvas....but...the tops bow work is original AFAIK

Thanks JohnnyC, would love to get a softtop like that made up for it,

And just to fill you in.
1959 - First Toyota vehicles exported to Australia by "thiess P/L"- the initial lot are Land Cruisers for use on the Snowy Mountains Hydro electric Scheme.
after this "Thiess Toyota" was formed and started importing them for sale to the public,
After talking to the PO, I beleive this is one of the trucks imported for work on the Snowy Mt Scheme, I have sent the Chassis number and engine number to Toyota Australia to see what they can come back to me with,
Cammo

just forgotten to translate
Here we go:
German, first lesson:;)
Moin, moin,
it`s a slang in the north of Germany, they say it all the day:D
Means: Good morning, good afternoon, good evening

EDIT: i heard it said....i dont need to see those movies listed above now :)

that would be interesting to find out...afaik...there were 13 1st shipped over and 25 total for the 1st order from japan.

Peter or I should do some digging :D

I was corrected about the engine being a chevy and not toyota already.

But now the plot thickins more. That is a toyota floor, tranny cover and battery/tool box. The only thing I've seen before in lit besides full vehicles is the chassis only and chassis and cowl. But it looks like this had the front floor minus the sides.

I really like the stock speedo and gauges. The aftermarket ones not so much.

I can see the front hubs are stock. I guess the dirty and clean bolts was throwing me off. Besides my bad eyesite. Is that a mix of 23mm 21mm lug nuts? The front wheels are toyota, is there any spacer behind them? Are they 16". Here in the US the only toyota wheels we have found to fit the FJ25 front axle is the stock 16" with the hole in the side.

Are those 40/45 and 55 bumpers in the back included in the price?
