Wow twisty, you keep build threads up to date on so many forums ....

Is it done yet :>

Hehe, not yet Brad....slowly getting there but.....and yeah, keep it up to dat on the the 3 main forums I visit.

Bit of an update but.

Picked up the engine, heads, and all the new bits from Ken at Better Heads this week. Then today Ben came around to help start putting the V8 all back together. Got all the bottom end done before calling it a day.
All the new bits. Block was bored 60 thou over, and crank 20 thou over. Already had a aftermarket cam in it (most likely a towing cam), so left that, but still got new lifters.

New main bearings installed ready for some assembly lube, then the crank.

Nice build, I like the rear fender flares.

Cheers mate.

Nice Thread.
Where did you get the Bilstein 5125?
Thank you.

I got mine through www.locktup4x4.com.au

Hello Mr. Dave,

I confuse to choose which Bilstein 5125s that suit for Toyota Landcruiser BJ40 1982.

Can you help me to give me your advise?
I finally found http://www.allshocks.com that sell Bilstein shockabsorbers.

Here is the list of 5125s from that website.
AllShocks.com | Bilstein 5125 Series Offroad Shocks

Thank you for your kindness.

You will want the 255/70 valving, and the lengths will depend on how much lift you plan to run. I have 12" travel ones all round on mine with custom shock mounts to suit.

Bilstein

Mr. Dave, I confuse to choose the Bilstein.
Please let me know the Bilstein type that you buy.

Because I really want my vehicle to become like yours.
Your vehicle looks so beautiful, tough and superior.

Thank you.

Bilstein type...

Is this the type ?

BE5-6249-H5 List price $145.00 All Shock price $79.95 12" Travel 5125 255/70 valving

Is it the same for front and rear shockabsorbers?

Thank you.

Yes, that is the bilstein part no. for the shocks I run on all 4 corners of my 40. You will need custom shock mounts and 4"+ lift to run them but.

Helped pull out the 40s new auto and transfer case on saturday. Am probably going to cop a lot of s*** for this, but from my research, i think its the best way to go.

Doner vehicle.

So 40 is getting a ZF 4spd auto and LT230 transfer case out of a 86 rangie. By using the LT230 transfer case, my low range gearing ends up lower then if I bought the lowest available crawler gears for my landcruier case. Then also if I need to go lower again, crawler gears for the LT230 are half the price of the cruiser ones.

Couple of comparison pics of the toyota A440F and split case (top of pic) and zf and lt230 bottom of pic. The toyota auto and xfer is for sale if anyone is interested. Also have a marks 5l adapter kit to suit it too.

Been no progress yet, so no new pics to show. Brooksys is finishing up a few other jobs, and we should be soon back into finishing the fab work (Swing out tyre carrier, sliders, and tube front fenders to go)

Mr. Twisty, what were you drinking when you decided to fit a :censor: box? :meh:

Bwahahahaa.....Drinking XXXX as usual

I did quite a bit of research on it, and bang for $ this seemed like the best way to go. (I got the rover auto and transfer case off a mate for $150 :D)

The overall drivetrain length will be approx 6" shorter with the ZF auto instead of the Toyota A440F. (adapter length from the V8 to the rover auto is a lot shorter)

And the rover lt230 low range gearing ratio is 3.321:1 instead of the 1.959:1 I currently have, and lower than the 2.296:1 thats in the transfer case behind the A440F I got in the doner mwb. So the rover ratio is even lower then the lowest crawler gears (3.05:1) available from Marks 4wd adapters for a cruiser case. :)

Ray185 helped out sorting out the new tail lights this week.

Led, 125mm dia, have brake/tail/indicator and reflector built into 1 light. ADR approved.

Welcome to Led Technologies Pty. Ltd.[/URL]

Got them fitted and wired up on the weekend. They look ok sticking out, but I think recessed would look way better, so this will be done down the track when I get some bodywork and a respray done.

Mounting holes.

Brooksy has finished all the other work he had to get done, and now will be focusing on the 40, so should be a good update after next weekend on the fabrication side of things.

Mocked up a bit of tube for the front bumper too...will be like below, but 1.5" dia. instead of the 1.75" pictured.

Another option....not my style but...
IMG_5249_02.sized.jpg

Mount the thing, so we can see what it looks like ;)

I would, but the 40 is about 1.5 hours drive from me....I will be down there on the weekend to help with making the tube front fenders, so will give the front bumper a coat of paint and fit it then.

Brooksy just sent me some progress pics from tonights effort. Heading down in the morning for two days of work on the 40, hopefully get heaps done
