Very small update on the new 40. Gave it cleanup, got rid of the rats nest from in and around the glovebox (sh!t it stunk), stripped all the dash and wiring to sell, and dropped a coil off the coilovers to get it sitting at ride height.

Have sold most of the parts that I got with it, but will hold off buying any new bits till its all gone. Once everything has sold I'll start ordering a heap of new bits and start a build thread for it.

Yeah, site I used host them all on went down, and doesn't look like its ever coming back up. Need to sit down and get them all onto Photobucket someday.

Few update pics on the new 40. Will start a seperate build thread soon. Had some custom side panels made by Mick at http://www.aussierestos.com.au to suit the lengthed chassis. They came out awesome with all the factory folds etc in them. He plans to have the complete rear tub reconstructed for me by christmas with it looking as close to factory as possible. Wheel arch opening has been raised and lengthed to suit 37" tyres. Also raised up the sill height. Tub will be cut and folded to match.

Panel is just sitting roughly in position.

Bit more done at Aussie Restos this week. Top factory strengthen rails have been cut, extended and welded in. B pillar joins all sorted. Now to sort the floor, and tubbed wheel arches.

If anybody knows of a old troopy body lying around that could be cut up please let me know. I want to get some of the rear inner wheel arches and cut n shut them for the coilover tower cover. Will look nicer with all the factory ribs etc over some plain folded sheet metal.

Hi, Mr. Dave.

Is this going with soft top?
Nice new FJ40 and love to see your ideas.

Thank you.

Hey Mate,

While I'd love to make this one a hardtop, the hardtop just isn't practical for the wheeling I do.

It'll basically be very similar to my old silver one, 6 point roll cage, 4 seater, etc.

Dave.

Few pics from the weekend at Aussie Restos. Floor and wheel arches are now done. Mick cut n shut floor sections from another tub I had to keep the factory look to it. Turned out great. Those familar with 40's will notice the extra room we've gained by moving the wheel arch back and adding floor in front of it instead of extending the inner gaurd all the way to the b-pillar like a troopy would have.

Mick at Aussie Restos has now finished welding and tidying up the rear tub. Just has to mount the tailgate now, and cut and fold the sills on the front of the tub to match the rear. Will then go down to Brooksys at the end of feb for him to start bending tube! (Cage, Tube Gaurds, Rear Tube Flares, Sliders). Will also cut out front and rear plate style bars on his new Torchmate CNC plasma cutter.

Love the way Mick done the sills. Cut approx 3" off, but then done a factory style fold on the bottom to retain some strength in the panel.
