I’ve got a factory head unit in there and I’m getting sound from back seat doors, and front knees. But no where else.

I have a ‘97 with the amp and subwoofer. If not getting front doors, sub, or rear ceilings - does that point to a dead amp?

If it still has the original speakers, they could be dead. When I pulled the door cards, after purchasing my rig, the speaker cones leapt out of their moorings and trailed the wires out behind them as they rolled down the drive.

i had the door card off for the driver side and they looked good. I would think a stereo issue as opposed to a speaker issue when its zones that are missing. Thought that perhaps the Amp itself powered the Front Doors, Roof mounts, and Sub - which is why they arent working?

If you have at least one pair of working front speakers, and one pair of working rear speakers, there is nothing wrong with the factory amplifier.

Front doors are connected in parallel with the dash speakers.
Rear doors are connected in parallel with the roof speakers.
The subwoofer amp gets its signal from the rear speaker wirinng.

It’s easy to just pull out the head unit and test the wiring. There are multiple plugs for the speakers back behind the head unit and some will not be used depending on which options your truck has.
Pull the wiring colors from the EWD for your year. Free download here on mud.

Speakers will have an ohm or two of resistance (they’re usually rated at 2-8).
If you don’t have a meter, you can just touch speaker wires to a 9v battery briefly and they will make a little pop.
