son i wish i could go on the 24th and be the other 100 for a side by side test; I will be away for work and get back on the 24th late night. I do live close by so if it does not work out at rausch let me know we can try a local test somewhere. but can i put my .02 cents in here; I think you are asking to much from the atrac itself. that hill incline with the loose dirt i dont think the atrac can over come by itself. like you said i think you were getting high centered.

May be next time then! Makes me think we should plan a 100 get together at Rausch Creek with a little bit more lead time so folks can make plans around it. :)

In terms of asking too much from ATRAC itself, that is the direction my own thinking is leaning at this point in time. However, based on the videos I've presented, there are others who suspect that the system "should" have worked better in my situation based on their own experiences. Tough to tell for sure until I get some side-by-sides (and even then it may not be conclusive)...

All that said, I'm just having a lot of fun taking my truck out in the dirt, and if I get to do it in the name of "testing" then all the better :D

It would be interesting to see how "my" lx would have fared on that same hill you were trying to tackle in your 100 Sonk. The reason I say this is that mine is an unlocked 99, without ATRAC, relying only on the rear limited slip. More out of curiosity for me, however it would be nice to know...

I think you would have fared better. In both of my attempts at the hill, my front-tires lost traction pretty early, and thus the rear would have made a bigger difference. I am still skeptical about "crawling" up the thing, even fully locked front/rear, because the top is pretty "sharp" and one will get high-centered if they try to go slow.

I'm going back next Saturday, and want to give it another go--this time with a little bit more momentum (it's funny, I thought I was already going pretty fast on my last attempt, but now seeing the video I realize that it was not that fast after all.)

Someone else go there alongside Sonk and put this thread to rest, lol!!!

Non-update update

Ok. So spent the day at Rausch Creek last Saturday. Good news is that ATRAC appeared to be working "as usual"--see picture below, as an example of a place where I was able to "crawl" with wheels in air thanks to ATRAC.

Bad news, I did not have another 100 there so no real side-by-side comparisons. Also, we didn't make it to the same hill-climb I attempted last time, so couldn't try it again over there...

So not really much new to update on this front.

I'm hoping that the I'll see a bunch of 100's at the Coal Mine Cruiser Classic - July 8 - 10th, and can do some comparisons then. :D
