Anyone out there running one of these? It's a 4 to 1 pre assembled direct bolt up tcase by Atlas..I haven't seen them and can't find them on their website, but I ordered one instead of my Orion.

unless something major has happened, an atlas will not bolt up to a LC tranny without an adapter..

Also.. you will need a centered rear Drive shaft..

Sry I was pretty vague.. I have a turbo 400... Jeremiah Proffitt is installing it.. So I know it will work.. I was just curious has any trail time with one of these and how they work. If not I guess I'll find out at CM08!

The HD Atlas transfer case is simply a 32 spline output front and rear, no matter the gear ratio.

I have a 4.3 low range Atlas with the 32 spline outputs in my Land Cruiser and have been beating on it since 2005 without issue.

They are a nice transfer case.

Not to sound like a total NOOB but what are the advantages over the Orion and this.. The Orion was my first choice but going to take a bit longer to get done so I went with one of these. :cheers:If Poser's got one it must be good!! :p Thx for the info.. you are always on top of things

Well the only real advantage of an Orion HD over an Atlas or other Dana 300 based transfer case would be the fact that you will not need to make a new rear axle assembly with the differential centered, since the Atlas and other Dana 300 based transfer cases have a centered rear output on them, opposed to the offset rear output that the Land Cruiser and Orion cases have.

orion HD update:

i just ordered one for a customer and the order took an extra two weeks longer than originally expected/promised. so i called AA. they have changed the design of the 2-4 shift fork assy to make it more durable. not sure which case was the first one to receive the upgrade or how important it is, but the one i ordered was serial #031.
