Technically polishing steel makes it more rust resistant.
Beyond visible pits and valleys that trap dirt and moisture that might start the rusting process there is also less surface area which, on a microscopic level, means even fewer pits and valleys to the nasties.
cover those smooth bois in some grease, as happens when you turn your wheels, and that makes the process even slower.

Anywho the whole axle housing will be getting some paint in the next day or two and I did have plans to cover the exposed metal bits that do not get hit by the seal.

Where did you get that grill from?

Oh it was some 100 dollar thing from ebay.
It had some of those silly amber lights in the grill which were very cheap and poorly attached so I removed them as I did not want them anyway.
It seems the cheap ones are no longer in stock and the only other one I am finding is $270

well my 3D printer sleeve driver worked a treat.

probably didn't need to put the driver they send with the sleeve on top but it seemed like the right thing to do if i was gonna be smaking on it

Honestly a few moderate whaps with the deadblow and it went on pretty easily

Little snip with some diagonal cutters and grabbed the lip with some vice grips and twisted the lip off pretty clean
not realy sharp or anything.

I approve of the speedi sleeve

Yes I realize I maybe put them on the wrong direction when you think about how they slide into the seal but the edge where the lip was is not really sharp at all after removing the lip.
I don't think it will have any issues sidling into the seal
