They have two awnings available... the 1250 and the 2500

1250: Rear Mounted (narower) Ret: ~$285
2500: Side Mounted (wider) Ret: ~$315

Tent: ~$1275
Annex (vestibule): ~$375

Kurt,

Have you had a chance to give the new Mombasa RTT a look? I know they're basically the same tent. What mades the ARB worth the extra $?

Cheers,

Chad

I think the vestibule over the ladder is a very cool idea maybe even worth the extra $300 over the Mombasa.

I have inspected the new Mombasa, intimately ;)

Differences I've noted so far.

1. Material... the ARB unit uses what "feels" like a better material for ite entire shell. It is definately a rip-stop material you can tell by the thread structure of the fabric. Whereas I can't say for certain with the Mombasa. I wish I knew more about textiles and fabric particularly... all I can go by is "feel" and "touch".

2. The awning over the ladder. A biggy for some, not so important to others... Is it worth a couple hundered extra? It would easily cost that much to add to an existing tent (professionally of course). Take it for what it is.

3. Quality control. The ARB doesn't seem to have nearly as many "inclusions" in the build. Things like double drilled holes, stiching holes in the fabric around zippers, etc. It had noticably less then the equivilent Mombasa. I can't say for certain how/why this is, but I assume ARB holds their imports to higher QC standards than Mombasa might. Now I'm not saying the new Mombasa was full of holes, in fact I think its a great tent... but the ARB just had less.

There is little doubt they come from the same factory (or factories), and its not limited to the two, there are a handful of others out there rebadging them as well... nothing new for the industry :D

The ARB rep was at a local outdoor 4x4 event here (In BC) last week and was offering the tent for 1800 CDN and said the regular price for us nucks will be 2200 plus tax:mad:
Way more than the US prices:mad:
I hate stuff like that:confused:

Well buy it in US dollars... from Canada ;)

I can ship these things anywhere... shipping is pretty reasonable for the US/Canada truck shipments. They do have to go by truck, and into parts of Canada I'd guess it could be ~$150 or so to ship them. They are big!

If dropping into the US is an option for pickup, I can ship them to a US address, that way you don't pay duties. If dropping into Seattle is an option, I can put it on Will-Call at ARB's facility (Renton, WA) and you can get away with $0 shipping.

Here is a pic of the tent at the 45 run. Pic taken by our very own skillet. I will take a bunch of pics tomorrow inside and out.
