Have an ARB locker for the land cruiser 9.5 that utilizes the 45 mm bearing. Question is, would there be a problem if I threw it on an '80? I know the bearings for the '80s are 50 mm, but has anyone run an ARB'd 3rd with 45 mm bearing on an '80 without issues? Would it be a good idea?

Which ARB do you have. Do you have the part #

If it is for the front of an earlier cruiser it is the same one that you need for the rear of the 80. If it is for the rear of an earlier cruiser then it will work you just dont mess with the C-clip part of installation, unless you are putting it into a 1990-1992 with semi float axles. And if that is the case you have to have the C-Clip version

ARB part #'s needed

80 front RD 132 all years
80 Semifloat rear RD 153
80 Rear full float RD 142

Early 75ish and later 40/55/60

RD 142 for the front ( full Floater )
RD 153 for the rear ( semi floater )

All use the 50 mm bearings

Old 45mm bearings were RD02 and RD08 first one FF and last one SF .. I still have one of the 45MM bearings working on my cruiser ..

you are correct, I was thinking he has the newer generation of locker.
