I'm trying to keep from paying shipping across country for a bumper with the heft of an ARB. Anyone know of a local place in Memfrica that sells them at a good price, or am I gonna be forced into shipping?

Also, I see where the Ironman bumper can be had for free shipping, but also read they have "crumple zones" on their bumper. I'm kinda looking for something less crumple proned... any alternatives y'all are happy with that you got locally?

TIA

If you want an ARB from Iron Pig I can pick up for you at GSMTR & then bring near you, like Jackson.
Let me know.

Oh yea, ARB= best!!

Thanks guys! I'll look into the Iron Pig option, and let you know!

On the scratch and dent models, anyone got an idea of what kind of discount is involved? If it's a good discount (i.e., 25%) then I'm all over it!

Will do Nolen. Thanks for taking one for the team!

Called this am, 4 WHEEL Parts has it in stock at their national warehouse. If I choose their free shipping and pick it up in store, I pay TN sales tax, so it's cheaper per the operator to just let them ship to my door and pay shipping but no tax. $896.06 total. Good buy?

That's weird. They must have gotten busted and changed their sales tax policy. I ordered an ARB for my 80 from 4WP a couple of years ago, by phone, paid for it by credit card and had it delivered free to the Austin store. No sales tax. I specifically asked about tax and the guy who took my order said he never charged sales tax on telephone orders.

I saw the ad saying free shipping if it went to that store, so I asked beforehand about what my total would be-didn't mention tax. I was hoping he'd say to pay online and just pick it up there, but it was a no go. Maybe should call back and ask someone else?

Cost you nothing to ask. What if you used someone's Mississippi address when you ordered, and said you'd like to pick the bumper up at the nearest 4WP store in Memphis?

I've ordered parts from Cool Cruisers in Dallas using my Mississippi address and picked them up in person. No shipping or sales tax. Maybe that approach would work for you?

Sea Knight, that's the thing-I'm already in MS. I told him I live in MS, he said if picking up in TN I'd have to pay there. Gotta get more info on this.

BTW, I've noticed that Slee sells a non-winch form of the bumper for $795.00. I'm probably not gonna get a winch, anyone bought the non winch type from locals? Only place I've seen it posted was Slee...

Called ARB, they have a bumper for the 80 at the facility (that has a powdercoat issue) for $550.00. Would be a great deal for someone local to Seatle area, but their new shipping price to me would add $250, making a faulty bumper come in at less than a $100.00 savings. Bummer.

I have the non-winch ARB 80 bumper. The truck is my wife's DD. It's very nice. Sorry I'm not home and don't have pics.

The delivered price you were quoted doesn't sound too bad, considering the cost of shipping these days.

I'd suggest calling John Hocker at Sierra Toyota in Sierra Vista, AZ. He's the Parts Dept manager, a long time Cruiserhead, and an ARB dealer. John will match and usually beat anyone's price. He'll have your order drop shipped from ARB's warehouse in Seattle. No sales tax. Hopefully shipping wouldn't be a deal killer. It's typically cheaper if you can ship to a commercial address. Find your best price, then call John and see what he can do. Tell him you know me (Lee in Austin) and Greg.

Thanks for the tip, will definitely follow up on that.

Called 4 Wheel Parts back again, told him I had a friend who bought and didn't have to pay sales tax. He told me (in a fairly rude tone) that they get audited for that and he will be charging TN sales tax, even if I pay on the phone and pick up there. Go figure.

Well I hope you switched over to your Chuck Norris voice and told him to go pound sand.

FWIW, the tax man is giving Amazon such a hard time about not collecting sales tax on internet sales that they're moving out of Texas. So he's probably telling the truth, but there's no reason to be a dick about it.

I hope John can help you. He's a very nice guy at a small dealership and he always appreciates the business. I have no clue about current ARB pricing, but early last year I hooked John up with a friend here in Austin. He sold us/my friend an ARB non-winch bull bar for his '96 FZJ80 for under $700, plus shipping. That's old info but at the time Hocker was $100 under 4WP.

Let me know how it works out.
