Anyone know the fix for this ??

Compressor works but just now noticed that the little window where the temp is, is not showing any numbers.

It registered temps. last week but not now. Bought new aprox 5 yrs ago & I keep it in my 40 full time. Never a problem before. Outside temps recently have been in the teens at night but thats never kept the digital from showing a temp in the past.

Appricate your thoughts.

No experience with ARB fridges, but let me throw out a few Qs for you. The answers may help the more expert than I help you.

Which specific model fridge?
I think ARB has made some changes in their line recently (but not sure that's relevant to one you bought 5 years ago or not.)

Does it still seem to cool appropriately?
If it's not cooling it would seem to point to a compressor failure.

Is there a way to check wiring connections?
Riding in a 40 is probably the ARB's forte, but 5 years of it may be causing a little stress on the poor thing. It could be as simple as the temp probe wiring (assuming it actually has that) working lose from the gauge connection somewhere, for instance.
If it has a circuit board, especially, but with other fab methods, too, check for signs of any connector failure or looseness.

Past that, you have to pretty much have the tools and skills to work on a compressor-type fridge, plus be able to reclaim the charge if you try to open the system. I wouldn't mess with that, leave it to the experts. Never having had an ARB, not sure how easy any of this is to check. GL:beer:

Mike, don't remember the model # and it's all buttoned up w/insulating glove on etc waiting for a run tomorrow.

Just now plugged it in & put a temp gauge inside in order to determine if it is working or not. It's cold outside so it will be a bit before I can expect the gauge to move. Right now I believe it IS working as the comp is making it's reassuring little hum.

My guess it's the wiring to the digital gauge. Just wondering if someone else has solved this problem.

Thanks, John

Edit : Just verified that temp did drop after plugging it in. So it's only the gauge that is not working. That's not all bad, but would still like to fix it.

Yeah, it's nice to have visual affirmation that things are still chilling. Maybe someone knows the scoop on the fix.

Our Edgestar's temp display works fine, but I still keep a thermometer clipped to the basket inside so I can double-check things when I do get the lid open -- or like now when it's not even plugged in and I have to check that the beer I put in it won't freeze before I get it out later;)

Quoting myself here. Found the solution for anyone else that might have a similar 'no temp. reading' : just replace the watch type battery located behind the digital read out.

Battery # CR 2032.......at least on my ARB MT45 ALT.

Hope this helps someone else.

I like easy fixes:beer:
That happened once with a very nice shortwave radio I own. Turned it on and zilch. WTF? Then remembered to check the memory battery.

I'd never think there would be something like that in a fridge, but now I know better.

X2. I thought mine was busted. It cooled, but no temp display. I called ARB and he said your battery is dead. He was right.
