Hey guys, I'm looking for pictures, info or advice on mounting Aqualu fenders on a 1981 BJ42. I am doing a Aqualu body swap and using the Aqualu tub, cowl and regular fenders. I see that the stock Toyota fenders have a support inside that attaches to the frame, and the Aqualu does not. What do you do here? If they are bolted to the cowl, aprons and bib is that enough support?

#4022 Front Fenders - Stock Width

I fit the stock fender support inside my aqualu fender with rubber in between the two. was a tight fit!

Thanks for the reply. Did you find that necessary due to lack of strength
? Is the stock support spot welded to the inner and outer fenders and did it require a lot of cutting to remove?

All I had to do to remove it if I remember correctly is drill the 4 spot welds. I used six stainless bolts threw my fenders to the supports. No I don't think it's needed. My cousin who worked at aqualu runs the full aqualu without the fender support and has rubbed trees, put his 40 on its side once with nothing more than paint damage

WOW! I'm sure there's a story behind that rollover, and I'd love to know why?? I think I'll try it without and see, perhaps add later. Thanks again for the feedback!

The three of us spent the day fishing caught lots and we were heading home. The road was an active logging road mostly in good condition except the washboard where the truck swaped ends the tires caught and it went over slowly. It's was a combination of things washboard, speed and fat tires. Nobody was hurt the first thing that was said was by the girl in the picture she said "I saved the rods". It was after logging hours so we were faced with hiking out or hopeing somebody would come by. My cousin decided to hike out to the road while we stayed. About an hour of waiting a tow truck came down the road pulling a nice shiny Ford F-350 with fuel pump issues. For the small fee of 100$ I got him to drop the truck and pull the 40 onto its wheels. I drove it out only thing broken was the glass in side mirror. There was scratches in the side window glass and the paint.
