I see some discussion on battery banks.

While 12V regulated is generally important if you are running AGM or even LION batteries, most LIFEPO4 batteries voltages are such that it may not be that important (and worth paying for the efficiency drop).

There are easy ways to make large LIFEPO4 battery banks. I've been running my iceco cooler in transit using a box I built myself

Plano Box : Amazon.com : Plano 1612 Deep Water Resistant Field Box with Lift Out Tray : Fishing Tackle Boxes : Sports & Outdoors 17.00

2x16ah LIFEPO4 batteries: https://amzn.to/3dgair8 50.00x2

Charger. - https://amzn.to/3iWIqtq. 32.50 with coupon

Cig Adapter. - Amazon.com: BANDC Waterproof Marine Car Power Socket Cigarette Lighter Plug Auto Truck 12v Rear Panel: Sports & Outdoors. 8.00

You need perhaps some spade connectors and some small sections of wire -- but to be honest, it will last longer than many of the standard solar generators. Especially if you are running 12v applications.

There are some videos which outline this approach. I can pass them along if you like. I've been using mine for my iceco while travelling and it works fantastic.

I've considered doing this route myself as well however I decided to just bite the bullet and get a bluetti instead due to form factor and it's already done hah.

What's the total cost of you want to add solar charging to that unit?? And overall "package" size? I'm interested in pics.. maybe I can get myself to DIY for a different build hehe. Tha ks!

Welp looks like i received the VL60 Today. The box looked very good and no damaged i could see.

Upon opening everything looked good until my coworker was like "Oh man theres a fat dent on the side!"
I thought he was joking at first since he usually jokes around like that... especially when we get new goodies. Unfortunately There was a nice size crease on the power management side on the VL60.

Other than the dent the unit is plugged in and cooling. Pretty quite with no weird fan noises. Just bummed about the dent :/

Glad you got yours in, and sorry about the dent.

The VLs thin metal walls get dented very easily around the areas where it is hollow on the inside (maintenance panel). Previous members have been able to get a small partial refund for their dents, may be worth a shot to shoot Lu an email or text?

Aite just shot them a text with Order number, and pics. Lets see if something can be worked out!.
Now im waiting for my bluetti...

First Off, Code “PRIME” is only good until Oct 14th, so make sure you take advantage of the 25% off while you can. I really am not sure when the next sale is; likely will take a while to generate enough interest after this, and if only a few member needs then they can just call Lu rather than have us try to relaunch the coupon just for them. Best if you catch the 25% off now if you are considering for this upcoming month.

So my dad had a great idea that I could somehow turn one of my fridges into a Low-consumption air conditioner by adding fans to the lid. That in combination with the reversible lid (Easily removed) gave me a really good idea - optional lid to turn your TR Into one mean SECOP-powered Swamp Cooler.

I noticed that when I tried to freeze a full fridge of water, that it took a really long time for the water temp to drop/freeze; this same logic means that the frozen water will take a long time to unfreeze as well, and with minimal effort needed from fridge to keep it frozen. Basically having ice in the empty space in the fridge really cuts down on how much power it uses to keep things frozen.

Also, my window AC unit uses 500-1000watts and it is, quite frankly, too powerful. It blows way more cold air out than I’ll ever need to cool less than 100 sq ft. Without an army of solar panels or a generator, you really can’t sustain the window AC unit while car is off.

Meanwhile, if there is frozen water in the fridge, then the compressor rarely ever has to cut on just to keep things frozen and thus barely use any power. There is a ton of wasted potential/cold air not being generated because the fridge does not need it, and thus the compressor stays off.

So the idea is simple, to take the lid and cut out holes where the cup holders are, and replace with fans/a blower that can rotate while sucking air out of the fridge. 4 cup holders = 4 different directions it can blow! More likely I’ll do 2 fans sucking air out and 2 blowing it back in to cycle enough air.

This will basically force the compressor to stay on full time and allow the excess potential to be used to cool the car; even then it is less than 100w (likely even with fans). As long as the water stays cold, the air coming out will be cold. The key is to find the right amount of airflow/power to the fans, and not borrow so much that the ice starts to melt; but not so little that compressor shuts off. The right balance will mean that you can just fill it up with frozen water and not have to worry about it melting/taking it in the house to refreeze.

I’m going to try it this month, and hopefully if things go as planned I can finally ditch the Window AC unit sticking out the side of my car. The window AC is also the biggest reason I am currently using a gas generator and not an electric solar bank/panels.

As far as the lid/fan, I am thinking it can be done in 2 ways:

1. Have a separate lid that is modified with fans/blowers, and swap when you need the cold air.
2. Do it in one lid and make a cap for the blower holes to close it/seal the air in. Then just take out caps when you want to let air out.

Will likely be going with #2 so I don’t have to bother Lu for a second lid.

I may have missed it. What was the last word on the TR series? Release date and will the discount code be honored?
I still have not heard from Lu regarding TR, seems they have been meaning to release them but have been busy and delaying it. The Prime deals end tomorrow so he is probably busy, so I can ask for an update at the end of the week.

Until I am told differently, I assume we will get some discount with them. The TR is important enough to where I will update the title once I am 100% sure.

Remember that current 25% code will end tomorrow, and does include the iCooler (thanks for sharing @soup222002).

I’m going to get off topic for a second because I don’t want you guys to miss this deal. I have had a Noco GB150 since last Black Friday sale and can vouch that these things are the real deal. I gave my GB150 to my uncle who is a Mechanic, and I’m going to pick up a GB70. Even the GB70 is too much capability for my needs, and I’m just choosing it because it’s discounted the most. 50% off is nice!!

Anyways, I made a thread to compile current deals I know, please feel free to add to it!

I was just posting about that 70 in another thread. Great deal. I think I paid $180 with discounts and free shipping and such last year

just ordered one been looking guess might as well order it lol
Now you can do what I do!

*Low Voltage Protection cuts on, Car shuts off*

Me: wtf? *turns car back on*

*Rinse and repeat until bed time”

Then when you wake up in the morning, just go straight for the booster and don’t even bother trying to crank it first lol. It’s nice to be able to drain your deep cycle as you please without a single worry about starting it. I did it with a non deep cycle too, and the booster is what allowed me to run the battery 25k miles/9 months + past the dealer recommendation to replace. It would’ve lasted even longer if I didn’t drain it every night, since it wasn't a deep cycle. The Noco finally hit its limit when my lead acid was so dead, that at max charge it was below 12V and within 3 seconds of unplugging the Noco, Voltage dropped to below 5; It had been discharged too much and too many times (over 100 boosts on that battery).

Now that I am on a deep cycle, the Noco will help me make the most of its ability to be discharged up to 90% without Nearly as much of an impact on battery life. it’s a 115Ah battery so I can basically use 100ah every night and just boost it in the morning. Without the booster I would have to stop at the minimum needed to crank, and so I would lose out on a lot!

What battery are u running 🤔 odyssey ?

What battery are u running 🤔 odyssey ?
Just swapped from OEM Interstate group 27 battery to this Exide Nautilus Marine RV group 31. It’s cheap and gets the job done and can be easily found at a local Home Depot.

Why? Am I not supposed to use it like this? As essentially a house battery when parked and then boost it to use as a car battery when driving. I also am getting a Noco onboard 10amp Charger/maintainer as well (also on sale on amazon for prime day), so boosting will still be a rare occasion I think; for when I don’t want to wait a few hours on Charger/run gas generator in the morning, and only for nights when I use a lot of electricity.

Really appreciate you sharing that, so I don’t feel like I shared for nothing lol. I was very glad I checked to see if prime deals included Noco, to find that it did! I have been holding out for a sale ever since I gave mine to my uncle, and even borrowed it back to buy myself more time for a sale. I was literally about to pick one up this week at a much less discounted price, and am basically getting the NOCO GEN1 onboard 10amp Charger for free thanks to the savings!

I would not have even known to check if members from this thread didn’t alert me to prime day to begin with. Nicely done team!

And Ratchey you are welcome to share any deals here anytime brother. All of your shares have been solid and has helped out a ton, and I would’ve loved to see that as well.
