Anyone tap into DOME light for rock lights in 2017 LC?

Hello all, just wondering if there have been any updates on the video tutorials here. This thread is definitely heading into a direction I was hoping it would. I understand, if not. Thanks!
ditto bump

Bumpity... I actually installed the rock lights already. I just need to figure out how to wire them up to the dome circuit.
Bumping @Eric Sarjeant . I have. 2015 200 and I’m just trying to install my own illuminated scuff plates that would come same time as the courtesy puddle lights. Can I tap into the wires on the driver side by the brake pedal, as one poster previously mentioned, or do I need to go all the way to the fuse box (number 54 I believe) in the engine Bay.

Yeah, pre-2016 you should be able to go under the dash light circuit on the drivers side. Recommend using a relay.

Just wanted to provide an update. I spent some time going back and forth with SwitchPro support. Very responsive and impressed. We tried a number of options to get their pink trigger wire working with the illuminated door scuff plate. That light must be fully controlled by BCM. Reached out to @Eric Sarjeant who came to the rescue. He confirmed with his installers that they use the light on the lower driver side panel above the brake pedal. That worked perfect. Many Thanks Eric. I installed two LED lights in the engine bay which now get triggered when opening doors. I'll add rock lights when I install sliders.
@prharper I have a 2015… which color was your wire that you spliced into? Or was it a fuse tap?

Which circuit to tap into for 2016+? And how would it be wired up with the digital relay you mentioned?

Ideally would want the rock lights to come on when unlock at night (assuming dome light on door setting is the best way to do this?), and then also have a secondary OEM style switch on the dash to manually trigger it on/off independent of the dome light.

Rock light issue with the 2020 HE. With the ignition off, the rock lights come on when the doors are open and are tapped into the dome light in the car. No problem. Doors open, rock lights on, door closed rock lights off. When the dome light times out, so do the rock lights. I have an override switch added left of the steering wheel to override. So with the ignition off, if I want the lights on when the doors are close....no problem, depress the switch in the dash.

The problem is that it's apparently tapped into the wrong power source because if the car is running, the rock lights are on. Dome light off, override switch off, headlights on or off---doesn't matter, the rock lights are on day or night if the truck ignition is on.

I don't think the relay is bad. Any ideas? The red wire going from the relay to the relay seems odd.

In the wiring diagram below---The 3 white wires from terminal 1 carry the load to turn on the lights (two wires) and (i guess) to power the override switch (one wire). The one blue wire is coming into terminal 4 presumably from the dome light/BCM to send a signal that the dome light is on thus turning on the rock lights (terminal 1). The power comes into terminal 3 from the battery (one red wire). A signal from the override switch (second red wire). The third red wire just runs from the relay to the relay which makes no sense to me. I believe since it's "hot" when the car is on that may be the culprit. It may be "charging" the solid state relay and leaving residual power to the output of terminal 1.

Said another way I don't know why anything is connected to terminal 2--the power to the relay is coming in at terminal 3.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 2020 tapped into the blue wire and my lights are on if the ignition is on, regardless. Sounds like it needs to be tapped into something else.

Haven't undertaken this, as I'm still not clear on what to do to make the rock lights come on together with key fob unlock on a 2016+ at night (along with the courtesy lights).

@Eric Sarjeant knows or maybe @prharper does also.
