i got the a340h trans acting up. i understand that if i bolt the bellhouseing off my a340 onto the aw4 i can use it in my 86 4runner 22re. Now my question is this. is i do this. does anyone no how much of a diffrence in driveshaft lenths there is? Wheres best place to get new flanges for the jeep case so it will mate to the stock driveshafts. IS there any wireing i ned to change over? Will my factory harness plug into the jeep trans. if not will the plugs on my a340h unbolt somhow and be able to be swaped over. Im takeing my buddys 86 4runner off his hands. i need to get it drive able. Then i plan on seting it up with a hand throtle and hand brakes for my son. Who has cerbral palsey and wants to drive in the woods. Hes stuck in a wheelchair. And i want him to be able to enjoy himself like dear old dad. ps im a single father doing this on a budget .

One more thing wich would be easyer cheaper . swaping to the jeep stuff? swaping to a manual and just have him start and shut it off in gear? or swap with a difrent auto from yota need help and input.

Rebuilding the a340h transmission would be the best bet or try to find one in another rig in a junk yard.
After swapping in an AW4 from a Jeep, you would probably be money ahead just rebuilding the stock transmission.

other then needing new driveshafts. what would be needed to swap to the jeep trnas. i can get jeep trans and transfercase pretty cheap where i live. toyota cost alot more. i got a custom driveshaft shop up the street. So that problems taken care of also. The wireing is what i guess i need the info on whats difrent in it.

I believe the early autos were purely hydraulic, no "computer" control. The only electrics you will need to worry about are the neutral start switch, the Reverse and 4WD switches. Besides the driveshafts, you will need to investigate the crossmember, and the linkages for the shifter.

whats needed to swap a 5speed out of a v6 truck onto a 22 re? can i just swap the bellhouseing? if i can find one for a 22re?

is 450 a good price for a complete 5 speed setup. ? pedals driveshafts trans transfercase. shifter slave cyl anything related to it working in my truck he said beleves its a w56 trans. give me everything i need to convert my truck over to the manual trans,. good bad fair price? off a 22re same motor i got.

Seems like a fair price to me but I really haven't looked for one either. You may want to search and see if anybody has a write-up on doing the swap. There may be other things that you aren't thinking about. (i.e. some way to trick the computer to thinking you are in park so you can start the engine.)

u cross the wires for the neutral safety switch so it thinks its in neutral or park all the time. some got a blue white wire some got i think i read yello with and some said red. i downloaded the fsm for my model so i figure that shouldnt be a problem. As long as my computer lets the truck run. everythign else should bolt right in from the searching i have been doing for the past two weeks on here and pirit but if theres any special trick u think i should no please let me no . Would greatly help and appreciate any help or adive for doing this swap ,.
