Looks very similar to the old one.

What am i missing?

The big change is the 100% laser cut and CNC formed steel parts that make up the bumper. The original bumper was hand made custom. As demand has grown we have taken the time to redesign the bumper and make a few improvments along the way.

The new bumper has a few changes to the look, the side and corner is tappered. The rear corner is as high as possible to acheive a good departure angle and the front end of the bumper fits to the fender well. The bumper fits tighter to the body to give a good look without the tube protection as an option. The bumper comes standard with the tube protection.

The bumper has more to it than seen from the outside. The corner and side are boxed (closed on the inside to maximize strength).

Here are some pics showing some detail more to come later...

That thing sure looks plenty stought. How much, approximately, does it weigh?

bumper no swingout weighs about 80-90 lbs..made of 3/16 inch plate and 1/8 inch DOM tube on the corners.

add 30 lbs for each swingout.

Does the buyer have any input on say a tire mount?

IOW's would it be possible to have the tire mounted in the very centre of the 80 and up higher than normally seen .. as well as curving to follow the angle of the rear hatch glass?

Or is that just insanely impractical to ask for? I know nothing :o

BTW, the cuts look nice .. good fit.

Currently the spare tire is offered on either the driver or passenger side.

Of course the tire can be located in the middle and mounted higher and at an angle as a custom feature for a customer.

That looks very nice Ken. Great job! With those last few pics you can really see the attentiion to detail.

any pics of the underside--showing how the wings are mounted

yea, yea, i know what you are up to ;p Mr. i got all kinds a' fab skillz and a lift in pop's garage

Beautiful. I want one.

Cool close-ups. Do you have a pic of the bumper as taken directly behind the truck... new vs old design? It would be nice to see how much further or closer the sides stick out from the truck. If I were to purchase, it will be without the side protection tubes.

I can post more pictures this weekend.

The sides of the old and the new bumper are basically the same width, they both line up with the width of the fender flares at the fender end and taper in following the body line to the rear. With the sides out as far as the fender flare they protect the sheet metal even without the tubes. The tubes add further insurance protecting the most expensive to replace sheet metal that makes up the rear of the 80 body (the corners cant be replaced as easy as a door or front fender).

I'm ain't positive there Tyler but I think what is being inferred here is that anything is possible with the proper amount of $$$$$$.

Great looking bumper Ken, very impressive and no cutting of the frame is really going to make it attractive to alot of wheelers.

With twin swing outs could the second one be equiped with a ladder and hi-lift mount or is there something already in place for the hi-lift that I missed?

do you have to cut the muffler off?

Would you all just leave Ken alone so he can go finish my bumper ;)

Seriously, Ken is fantastic to work with and he treats all of his customers with the utmost respect (no matter how little you know about fabrication).

If you want something tweaked, he will tweak it.

All of his products are well thought out and well made.

No affiliation, blah, blah...

From what I know, you cut off the resonator and tail pipe. If you go to his shop in SLO for the installation, he'll cut the pipe and weld on a hanger to hold the remaining pipe in place.

does this one extend farther back than the old one, as one photo suggests, or is that an optical illusion?

The Hi Lift mounts behind the spare tire swing-out standard.

A ladder can be added to the spare tire swing-out.
