Hello again, am **slowyly** very slowly,in the process of personalizing my '69 that I bought almost 10 years ago. When I bought it the F was seized, I found a donor 'f', and as money was tight at the time, got it running with used parts....but smoked badly. It sat for another 5 or 6 years, until I finally got the original F rebuilt. And drove it as my dd for nearly six months, until the brakes went out. Bought a '78 rust bucket, with solid chasis (cut for V8), for the db parts. Currently db conversion on hold due to weather here in Montana....so I spend most of my time looking at other's 55's and dreaming...ultimately desinging my *dream pig*,....so....I soon will be EX*changing '78 discs and rear diff onto the '69,...but would like to run 33"X9.5's on the pic,...any info on what mods, if any, i need to do to accomplish this will be greatly appreciated, might as well change the suspension....lift, etc. whatever while exchanging front and rear ends. Thanks all!

you should wait on a better source then me, but, im pretty sure that will be fine, dont think you get much bigger maybe 10.5" on a stocko 55 but there are a few threads on this very topic, take a look threw and you will definitly find your answer.

I'm running 33x9.5's. I can't vouch for exact length but I believe the previous owner used a three inch shackle drop. I have no other 55's to compare too though. I'd be happy to post up a pic if you want. If you look under 3jvj in the pig of the month there's some general shots. Cheers. -JJ

I just noticed you may be one of the closer members to me. Give a holler if you head south. I'd love meet up and compare pig notes. There's only one other pig around here and I've never met him (although he did say hey to my wife- and she failed to get his phone number).

I have an old set of 33x9.50 BFG AT's on my FJ55, and I love them. Smooth, quiet and they fit the stock suspension no problem.. dont wheel the truck much other than a light trip here or there, so no issues with rubbing other than a tiny bit when at full lock and a wheel "stuffed"

Here's Sherman with 33 x 9.50s Tires tuck under fenders and steering is easy.

thank you all for the replies! Sherman, is that stock suspension or lifted?

Stock springs with one add a leaf. Probably about original spring height.

For what it's worth, I bought the tires at Costco. They were cheaper, had great customer service and provided a road hazard warranty. Other dealers I got quotes from wouldn't provide a warranty for off road tires. When I shredded the sidewall on one with only 1000 miles on it, Costco replaced it for $11. No questions asked.
