look up the GXOR group on facebook. A lot of these meetups and activities are arranged on facebook now and less so on online forums now. Search out GXOR (GX off road) and local off road groups in your area.
Keystone cruisers is very active and several of their members have come to the Capitol Land Cruiser Club events

A pretty active one down here in Bakersfield but mainly Jeeps, cool guys. They just did a run up to Coyote Lake in the Shaver Lake area.

We ran into Randy Worth and The Trail Crew (The Trail Crew | Offroading in Southern California) in Death Valley late in 2019. Good folks with focus on safety and good comms gear. Lotsa laughs around the fire, too.
