Just guns and ammo and few items to recovery while offroading. Are you storing anything else in the car, or just the guns and ammo?

OTI think your issues go beyond storage.
9mm are for those that sit to pee.
You need a 40 minimum or better yet a 45.
A single Barrel shotgun??
No thanks Nancy!
You need the 3 Barrel, for when things go down.

Me too. With record snow this year, I reloaded a ton of 9 and .45.+1 for the Glock 19. It may be the Camry of the handgun world but it's a damn good carry gun, which I carry a 19 with a G26 mag concealed. I tend to carry IBW and having only a trigger-safe pointing at my goods is concerning but it would take an act of God for it to discharge.
As for the caliber debate, 9mm is significantly cheaper to shoot and I'm a cheapass.
The suppressor itself is 12", it can be easily taking off. I dont mine the gun safe without the suppressor.
If you ever head to Southern OR let me know, I take you out for a day of shooting suppressors.
At one time, I was big into .40. But with the advances in JHP these days, the differences in capability between 9mm and .40 in a quality bullet (I'm a fan of Federal HST) are negligible, and the 9mm provides less recoil with faster follow-up shots. And if you live in a free state, 9mm gets you a few extra cartridges in your mags.
As you can imagine from my handle, I used to be a big 1911 guy. But when I started timing my splits, I realized that the extra recoil of a .45 just really slows me down. When I was younger and stronger, it might have been less of an issue.
Finally, since I compete in the summer with a 9mm Glock 34, sticking with 9mm for carry makes reloading simpler.
Exposing my hypocrisy, I've owned my Glock 23 longer than my Glock 19 and I had a few initial issues with my 19. So I end up carrying my 23 more than my 19. But I anticipate retiring my 23 to the safe.
Did you really just type, "Pee sitting down?"
Come on...
-A well-placed shot from either does the job. Blasting away...counting on bigger holes is a poor strategy IMHO.
The marginally bigger .40 ain't gonna stop Big Bubba either if not well placed.
Two to the chest...and one to the ocular cavity if needed and Bubba is done.
One barrel not enough?
Tell that to Marines wielding the Benelli M4.
No need for more than one barrel with an M4.
-9 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger with 00 Buck or slugs or both?
...One barrel does juuuuust fine.
You may now resume the trash talk...![]()
I knew there would be one self defense guru with a Body Count higher than Chris Kyle![]()
Not hardly. I don't consider myself a guru. At my best, I was a C-class USPSA shooter, which means I'm better than many, but I still suck.
But if you look at gelatin test results of 9mm JHP, you'll see that with the modern bullet designs like HST, there is no longer much difference between .40 and 9mm -- which is one reason why many law enforcement agencies that used to issue .40 are changing to 9mm.
If you leave anything like that around here you windows will be break and that will be dissapear.![]()
That's also why I have drawers
I like arb drawers, but I want something so strong that take time to get into.
