Shotts-

Your 'my car is better than your car' attitude, your penchant for stopping and getting a picture every time your rear tire drops 5 inches (I say 'rear' tire for obvious reasons), your incessant argueing over points already made and your Technicolor, double-sized and double-spaced signature all combine to leave a sour taste on the toungue. I am absolutely sure you know this from previous flames, and you thrive on it. I'm just giving you what you so obviously enjoy, a little fuel for your fire.

I'm considering becoming a member of CSC if they'll have me, but elitists like you are what makes me question myself. I'm here for the wheelin', and for the experience of other people who happen to own the same vehicle. Not to listen to rants extended ad nauseum. I appreciate a point well made, but dead horses have rights, too.

Guys, I know this is NOT involving me at all, and this may be a total joke on me if you guys already know each other and I'm taking this way too seriously, but I didn't read anything in Shotts messages that claimed his elitism more than just rhetoric and just Shotts' `smack' (if you will) which I have always taken as just light-hearted.

Both of you are obviously smart articulate people. Maybe I'm confused from where this tension comes?

Rob: Don't know what your problem is with my enthusiasm toward my Cruisers (note Cruisers...not just the 100)? Sorry though...there's nothing I can do about it. I like the sport, and in the 100 I have a very unique machine. I got 75K hits on my website this month. The info requested on the L-shock mod is intense. Finally, there's a 100 on the globe that ramps and flexes 95% as much as an 80. People are demanding info and pics. If you can't handle it, I'm sorry about that. Just block my posts.

Regarding membership...let me do you a favor. PHIL...TOOLS...BMAN...WHOMEVER handles the membership...I just mailed mine in. When you get it please send it and the check back. I can pass on membership and Rob can join up. No problem.

Lastly...this thread....I've learned some cool things about BMan while we're sharing thoughts. That's cool. As far as VSC and the like....95% of the people are the road are not expert drivers. VSC will help those 95% of the people though it might hinder BMan. That's all I'm saying. Enjoy your sweet 80. Here's a pic I took of ya on the hill:

hey shotts i agree 100% on the VSV and your thoughts on this matter in general. i feel VSV should be on pretty much evry car made mostly cause 99% of the drivers out there, (yes even you guys) are complete and utter idiots on the road. sorry but the truth must be told. i drive for a living and i see the stupid and careless moves drivers put on everyone around them cause of two fundamental things, they dont pay much attention to whats goin on outside the car they are driving, and they just dont really know how to drive very well, sure they know the basics, green mean go and red means stop, but beyond that,,,,,,, in that text i think the VSV could help prevent such accidents as wrongfull or improperly executed lane changes and merges, tailgating, and a general lack of sense of ones own space. the speeds we drive at today require ever more diligent and attentive drivers and for the most part modern cars let folks do just the opposite. (rant mode off)

BTW shotts i'll add my 2 pennies on your "elitist" tude;) you mentioned driving is about staying alive, well in the modern era or the big city i suppose a new rig like your 100 would do the job. but, off the beaten path i'll take my old clunker pig anyday for several reasons, heres a couple.
1) i can fix it easily and quickly just about anywhere = survival
2) i am more likely to get parts or outside help cause of the simplicity of the rig = survival
3) i dont and cant drive as fast nor as quickly therefore lessening my chances for an accident or other related trouble = survival
4) my piggy just looks way cooler than a modern rig so folks would WANT to come to my aid = survival:flipoff2:

seriously, its way cool that guys like shotts actually wheel the rigs they have, but in my opinion the newer rigs stand a much greater chance for failure than older ones in the boonies.

Wow, this went a little off track from where I was expecting it to go.

Concerning my thoughts on the subject of VSV, I've made them apparent.

Regarding potential memberships, I feel it unfortunate that two potential new members might be lost over such a truely inconsequential subject. In fact, truth be told, the fact that John considered actually considered joining CSC means so much to me as President of CSC and speaks volumes about the type of image we are portraying here. John is a proud member of AZLCA and has even questioned the resoning behind the existence of a second TLC club in AZ. The fact that he even considered membership means to me that the whole idea behind this club really does mean something. I would hope that the mebership of one person might not sway any other person considering mebership from joining up. We as a group are not elitist except for the whole TOYOTA thing that is. My opinions differ from those of other members on 100's of subjects but I would never let that sway my convictions to the club. 3FJ40 and I will never see eye to eye on the merits of CB radios vs Ham. It's just not gonna happen, but I know that Scott's a good person and a good wheeler and his wealth of knowledge in other areas and subjects is something I haven't begun to tap into. John Shotts loves his 100 and he's not afraid to let the world know. This is the type of passion we want in our club. Diversity makes us all better. Hearing other peoples takes on a given subject may open our eyes and minds to a thought process we would have never reached w/o the diverse opinions of others.

I would hope that both of you might reconsider your memberships and join up. It's these types of discussions that this club and this hobby needs.

Why do you think I replaced the '93 (gave it to the kids) with a '97? :) Better suited for the hardcore trails...we agree. :) :)

Thanks for your thoughts BMan. I AM HONERED BY YOUR WORDS! I am very willing to pass on membership if that'll be a posiive for Rob. I'm very active in the AzLCA, in fact I was asked to be President last year though declined because most of the members are in Phoenix. It wouldn't be a good thing for the Club. I'm also actively participating in trail runs with other vehicle types. In fact, I'll be riding with the Land Rovers (AZLRO) tomorrow. I'm plugged in in many places. Rob may not be. So, I'll be glad to pass so that he can plug into the CSC should he decide.

One thing I feel reflects very poorly on us as individuals are "personal attacks". When Becky read the blatant attack Rob made to me on this thread that he had nothing to do with, SHE was ready to post. Rob, I'm in sales and am good at it. You may not always like the opinions I sometimes "sell" though to attack me on a personal basis is unacceptable. Please don't do it again. Thanks and I hope to see you out there.

REVISED DECISION: BMan...you want me in, you got me. Process that membership.

Hehe, now I feel more like I'm at home on this forum.

People fighting like all the 19-20yr olds on the Rx7club forums...it's GREAT!

Even as a newbie, I think its important to have quite a bit of diversity in vehicles and opinions - which is what makes the club exciting and interesting to potential future members.

If everyone has a cookie cutter rig with the same mods, you're almost expected to be the same or not welcomed. I like to be able to show up at a group meet and compare differences between vehicles and mods so I get a better idea of how I'd like to improve my own.

I didn't mind the frequent stops for pictures, since not only does it show that someone is proud of their truck and the modifications - but it gave me time to run out for a pee-break a few times on the trail after all that gatorade.. :)

What is this argument over...really?

Someone likes a factory assist mechanism, someone else doesn't.

Everyone seems to like factory or aftermarket lockers. Hell, I was probably the only person on the last run without ANY lockers. But, the important thing was that I was still invited with my stock truck and it was no less exciting to me to be able to go.

Had anyone said "You can't go if you don't have lockers"...I would have felt like maybe I should find another group to "play with."

Everyone seems like they are here to enjoy their Toyota/Lexus...play safely on the trails, and have fun.

I don't think there should be any unlwelcoming attitude unless someone is endangering themselves or others foolishly.

Now play nice, or I'm going to fine you each 2 factory centercaps!

Shotts-

My name is not Rob. If you don't happen to know my name, I go by Spike here.

My 'personal attack' was nothing more than a list of facts, with the one insult being the word 'elitist' if you chose to take it as such. My point was to let you know that not everyone who reads your diatribe is spellbound by it. My personal opinion, as it were. I'm somewhat shocked that I have the power to make you withdraw your application for membership with CSC, I would have regretted forcing that decision on you.

I usually run with a Nissan club. My first run with them was in a Toyota. I happened to buy a Nissan later. They don't care if I drive a scooter on the trail, and that's why I enjoy running with them. They don't care who drives what. They got together because it's obviously easier to talk about their trucks with people who have the same trucks. They like their trucks, they just won't shove them down your throat at every opportunity. I now drive an LC, and it hasn't changed anything.

I like the idea of running with people who own similar trucks. Mostly I just like wheeling, though. I guess I should stick to that, and not worry about affiliations. Perhaps I can go take an anger management class, or something. Apparently I'm the only one disgusted by your sig, your posing, and the blood on your whip. I heard somewhere that if you are the only one that sees something, perhaps it isn't really there.

P.S.

My apologies to the thread starter and those enjoying the topic. I should have addressed my problem with Shotts in a PM, but unfortunately I didn't, and figure those who had to see the beginning should see the end as well.

-S.

well spike i'm not real sure why shotts stuff bugs you so much but thats your right man, do it to it. i agree it should have been a PM to him instead of a public display but hey, thats your thing.

cody i dont think your idea of "fighting" was including me, some of us just give each other crap for fun.

personally john i like the fact that i can dish out the "my old junk is better than yours" and you just come back with an equally rig related comeback. like the way me and kevin give each other poop all the time:)

makes it fun cause it is all just in fun.

Ben - don't disapear, I enjoy wheeling with you, your sick man! I'll wheel with you and the white elephant anytime!

John - stay the same, you make me laugh. You take a lot of @&@&@&@& and dish it right back.

Cody - nice sig line! We're gonna get the band back together

Happy New Year to everyone! Take a breath and lets start over fresh!

I don't remember you giving me any poop? Now I feel left out!:crybaby: :D

I have to say that I really appreciated this thread. I knew nothing about VSC (VSV?) prior to this and now I have a better understanding for both ends of the spectrum. If someone decides not to join the club due to a difference of opinion so be it. The reason I joined this club was for the diversity of people and opinions and I’m getting my monies worth. I do believe that it should remain on the subject, personal criticism should stay off the forum, nonproductive.

I have enjoyed this thread for the open discussion of VSC too, but would enjoy it more if I could find a nice 100/ LX 470 in AZ;)

I just can't seem to find the right spinnaz for the H2. I want it to look like the Puffy video ya know.....:grinpimp:
