Anyone have an old Toyota VSV kicking around?

Tossed all my extra ones a while back, and ironically I need one now. LJ78 has a vacuum transfer case (exact same as the late model auto FJ62 vacuum split case). Common problem for the FJ62 and the LJ78 is the VSV that turns off the 4wd fails after a while. Happened to me a couple weeks ago. New ones from Toyota are too expensive. I think I can use any old emissions one by just swapping the plugs over when I install it.

Will pay with beer....let me know what you have.

Here is how they look (from a FJ62 thread on this subject):

Writeup: 1988 FJ62 4WD Solenoid fix for $17.77

Would that be part of engine harness from back side of motor?

I think it's part of the chassis wiring harness. They're mounted on the right hand side of engine bay fire wall (in both 62 and 78).

I think I've got one from a 22re. I'll look today. It's yours if I do.

Thanks a lot Graham. Doing a trip to the interior after Christmas, and want to make sure I don't have to swap vacuum lines around to get my 4wd back out, haha.

These are the 2 I have.

Thanks for digging those up Graham! Top one looks nearly identical. Trade for beer? :hmm::beer:

I have the slightly more antiquated version. ..

Nice! I was thinking of eventually going that route and remove the electronics from the equation. Did you make those from parts, or buy somewhere? Might go to something similar someday. Right now I'm going for the lazy fix that doesn't require pulling vacuum lines in behind the dash.

Haha I do like beer. but really these were just sitting around, I'd be happy if it could help you out.
I found a 3rd one too.

Trust me, it's a huge help. With discount a Toyota one is still pricey at $220. And time to get to a wrecker is hard to find. Beer is the least I can do.

Old hvac parts I liberated....

I saved them thinking they'd be cool in a 40 one day...
