im going with the family to aspen for 4 days (thurs-sunday) and while i cant bring my fj40 with me (from Florida) if anyone is going out on the trails and dont mind someone riding shot gun let me know. thanks.

A good trail option and some camping up there would be Lincoln Creek...There is a nice little campground on Grizzly reservoir...small, free (or at least maintenance donation), and right on the water with good fishing. The trail continues up to Ruby Ghost town, and over Red Mt Pass. Overall the trail is easy until the pass which is a shelf road and narrow. There are some nice hiking trails right there too. If you need a 4x4...there are some heep rental places all around there.

thanks for the help. id be more confident and would rather hook up with a local to do trails with. i did a "heep" tour last time with my father in-law. he fell asleep during the ride thats how boring ass it was. if any one is wheeling with in an hour drive of aspen 4th july weekend pm me.

Fattires, you might try Book Clifff Cruisers, as they are in western Colorado. They have several members in the Glenwood Springs/Carbondale areas, which are close and north of Aspen. Hopefully you can get a ride with someone. Good luck.

You might also try the Denver TCLA group (Rising Sun).

Our group has an Aspen trip scheduled for the weekend of July 20th (so, a little after your 4th of July trip).

Good luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

We have our monthly meeting on July 3rd and we're combining a club meeting with a night run. It will be close to the Front Range to avoid long drives for the holiday. A group of us will be camping that night as well.
