Hey all, I test drove a 97 Landcruiser on Saturday near Tulsa, OK. I did like it, but I was hesitant to make an offer. Since I'm a newbie to the 80 series, are there any experts in the Tulsa area (specifically Glenpool) that have a burning desire to test drive it and give some feedback? Here's the link to it on the dealer's website: PopWin

It really appears to be in good condition, but there are a few issues I noticed as follows:

  • The front power seat gears are hosed (both the caps and the gears are missing in action). Since the seat wouldn't go back all the way and I'm 6'3, I could barely shoehorn my legs in to drive.
  • It has lockers, but I could only get the front to engage (and even that took some work). The rear never engaged, even with a little driving back and forth.
  • There's a tad bit of oil on the bottom of the engine/oil pan. I'm not sure where it's coming from.
  • When test driving, I made a lane change from left to right at about 50mph. The cruiser kept wanting to go right even with the wheel back at center. I had to somewhat snap the steering back to the left to regain a straight heading.:steer:

Other than above, there's just a few minor items to be addressed which are mostly cosmetic. There's no visible rust and the engine purrs like a kitten.

If any of you can and want to check it out, I'd love to hear your feedback. Since I'm in Little Rock, AR, it won't be easy for me to be there with you.

I'm contemplating making an offer, but I want to be certain there are no major issues you experts can find. I'm also curious as to what you all would offer...

Thank you!

Aaron

P.S. If you buy it out from under me, I'll... err... well, that would just suck.

here's what looks like a great deal on a locked FZJ

Grand Prarie Texas. Not far away, and it looks like a good good deal. I wish I had not bought one a few months back or I would jump all over this. I live in OKC, and would go see this one in a hearbeat if I were you. And, it is not the gold package, which is a big plus. The guys feedback seems honest too.
