Because these are not powered wheels then there should be little torsional flex I'd figure other than maybe during braking. The drawback of that design is simply ground clearance... I like the approach he has taken there with his own addressing issue (longer arms) being the biggest thing I see.... And using split reservior airbags also as indicated...
 
Ash, No problem, My thought was to run the tube at the angle for strength and clearance. I guess I could be wrong on the strength issue, my thought was the twisting of the axle was the biggest concearn. I don't know if the "H" design would be stonger then the "y". You do bring up a valid question. Maybe an engineer can chime in...

Also, you might find it intresting that the brakes are electric, but they have the ability to have a emergency brake (cable) attached to them. I figured this would be good if I am ever unhooking the trailer on a hill. The axle was a dexter product.
