anybody ever hear of making and mounting speaker boxes out of black PVC?

I seem to remember that I saw someone that had 6" water proof speakers and they mounted them in black PVC pipe and attached them to the role bar. They were waterproof and had enough trapped air to sound good. Anyone else done something like this?

I saw some made out of 6" about 9" long and uses a round plywood cutout glued in the center to mount 6" speaker into. Looks very much like the really expensive ones for boat's beminies (if you over look the PVC of course. Mount them on each side of the roll bar wuth some u-jounts and paint them black, should work great especially right behind the two front seats. Once I recover from xmas presents, I'll give it a try.

I have the top on for winter, but in the topless months, I'm going to have to figure out a way to make them theft difficult. Maybe make sure the ubolt nuts are welded in place so they can't be unscrewed and round off the screws that mount the speakers. Nothing is impossible to steal, but atleast the average crook won't be able to just reach in and take them. They will need time and the longer it takes, the less chance they will have of being stolen while I'm in the store or parked on some trail while I'm fishing.

I'll start to build them after the new year.

The ATV guys do this. Might wanna search around for their setups. I know there were at least two of them at the beach this year. Sounded like the ghetto came to the Outer Banks.
