My father's truck was stolen a few weeks back and our insurance company is giving us the run around. She was a mint, 1986 SR5 4x4 with 150k miles. She had original paint, stripes, wheels, suspension and all. No rust, No dents, a tough one to duplicate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help. Aaron

Why yes I do, as should any respectable dealership or decent used lot in your area.

*Actual online value only goes back to 1990, so look at the differences that happen for the same vehicle in 1991 and 1992, and adjust the loss in value accordingly with the collectible value.*

Snap a screenshot or better yet, screen print anything you find and use it as evidence of market value.

For "Excellent", "Single Cab", "SR5" it is $2000. I have seen them go in california for $5000-$6000 and one fully immaculate one, with only 6000 miles for $13,000 in Medford, Oregon.

You might need to try different zip codes using states around you as their locate only resources out to a 200 mile radius. Keep a screenshot of anything you find.

I found a mint 2wd in Turlock, Ca w/ 58,000 miles valued at $7,200.00.

Thanks so much, we used the resources above but they came back low as to be expected. We send the insurance company comps that were in the 7k range...All matching the condition of my father's vehicle. They rebutted, mentioning that they were 85 models with a straight axle. As I agree some folks like the straight axle, I don't believe the staight axle makes that big a difference in value...But I could be wrong. Finding a stock, unmolested Toyota is nearly impossible, especially one that was well cared for and nearly perfect in every way. The insurance company first offered 2500, then 4000...But there is no way my father would have sold it for 2.5k and let alone 4k, if it was offered. I will take your advice and look for comps again we sent in 3 and they used the straight axle song and dance. 1986-1988 models are difficult to find...

Thank you so much...good advice. If you own a dealership that would be great too. BTW attached is a photo of my dad's rig.

If it was near stock with "low miles" like that and minty as you say with no rust, then I'd say in the 3-4k range depending on where you were to try and sell it...

That's low...it might take a while, but $5000+ would definitely be attainable. That said, if insurance bumps up to $4500 or so, you may just need to take it.

Ebay might be worth taking a look at.

Definitely take it if they offer $4500-5000. My high line price for those last year was $4275 with the vehicle having gone through the 60 point as well as a detail.

Heck, I would've taken the $4000, just based on the average price. Depending on state, you should have the right to hold out up to 90 days for final settle. Also if you have homeowners, use that for any personal items, non factory equipment, like stereo, tapes, cd's, etc as most will only value those up to $200, and not include the stereo or ipod values. Homeowners will under their "In transit" clause.

BTW, throw me a 1% consulting fee if you like for the help. *Seriously though, nest of luck to you all.
