Anybody around here done a supercharger installation before? I'm seriously thinking about going the TRD SC route. Or know of a shop that has done one on a LC.

With 3 kids and a dog, the trailer is becoming more of reality for every trip instead of just occasionally. We do most of our camping up in the mountains and pulling the trailer up mountains kinda sucks. If I don't do the SC the next route would be a different rig like an Excursion or Suburban.

Thanks,

Wade

Boydmick has one-at least I think it's an SC and not a turbo. Send him an email thru the board. He's a professional lifeguard and still super busy right now and not on the board much.

80Bajabound has one as well and I believe SDTrux did his install. Shoot him a PM, his name is Mike.

Thanks for the replies, guys. Gives me a few leads to check into. I'm up in Riverside and usually go to Yota Masters. But they said they don't do SC work.

I installed mine about 1-1/2 years ago. It literally bolts on. Hardest part was removing the crank bolt and cutting and extending the wiring harness. George C. has a good write up that is probably still available.

Good to know. I had heard similar things about the install. I'm trying to decide whether to try and tackle it myself or have someone who knows what they're doing handle it.

Yeah, I have one. SD Trux did my install. Depending on mileage, I would consider a top end rebuild. At the very least, I would make sure my cooling system is in tip top shape. I don't know if you have a dual battery setup or not, if you do, there is no more room under the hood for air to circulate, my temps spiked considerably after the install, which lead to an aux fan, snorkel and louvers.

Keep in mind there is generally a negative to any positive when modding these trucks. More power = worse gas mileage, SC = 91 octane. etc etc etc.

All that being said, I would do this on every 80 I own. It completely transforms the truck. Coupled with the extreme valve body from West Coast Cruisers, you'll smile going up a mountain pass you used to have anxiety about. I've pulled away from stock 80's while going up the grapevine with my 2250 lbs trailer.

Thanks for the info, Mike. I do have a dual battery setup. But I also have an aux fan. Cooling system is in good shape. I'm at 160K mileage wise. The top end is the one thing that I'm considering. But the rig runs strong and has no issues. And I don't really want to create one.

Took it out yesterday...

Show off! I would love to go past 55-60 uphill

All you guys with 95+ can suck it. :crybaby:

At least my 94 feels fast compared to my FJ60.
