i have 2 old Jerry cans, and am wondering how to clean all of the rust and gunk off of, and out of, them...

any recommendations on products to use?

I would like to seal the insides somehow, with something, because I think that the older one may have been original equipment on a 50's Willys pickup that got sold a while back.

would a radiator shop be a good resource to seal the insides?

also, what are people's opinions on the pro/cons of using Jerry Cans Vs. Plastic gas cans (I have both, and will probably use both...)?

I picked up an old metal jerry can. Hadnt thought about sealing it. I remember a while back on a Trucks episode they used something like this Gas Tank Sealer - Better than Kreem - KBS Coatings to seal a gas tank, I would think it would work on a jerry can also.

sweet, thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for!

I personally would not waste any money bringing these back. I've found these kind of cans to not work well. These leak and just plain are a poor design. In contrast, the nato style cans are wonderful. I'd just get some of them instead. Available new or used at many military surplus places. JMHO.

what is the difference between these and NATO's? plus, that sealer kit says it seals leaky welds...

i was planning on using my plastic cans (cause they are lighter), and don't really have a use for these until i win the lottery and buy one of those cool $2000 rear bumpers that hold these...

doesn't make sense to me to junk them so...might they get used for generator gas or some other use other than for my Cruiser.:meh:

you can reweld them if they need it.....and buy same stuff we use to clean out gas tanks on our motorcycles and reseal them again.....not as good as new but depending on your care in the patch and reseal it can give you a few more years of use.
