As I sit here on a cold Sunday morning thinking about the events of the last few days I can't help but contemplate the future of our once great country. It also has me wondering what part I can play in perhaps restoring some of its lost values and glory.
I am personally affected by the reclassifications..... in the back of my mind I knew this day would come, I thought the restricteds I have would be the first to go but I also thought the next Liberal government would pick that "low hanging fruit", not the current government. As more details come out we will find out how much the CPC knew about the reclassification but as it appears now it was the RCMP working within their own mandate. We also know the upper managment within the RCMP are rabid anti's and staunch liberals. I deal with rank and file RCMP on a weekly basis and although uninformed on most firearms issues I don't find them bad guys. I try to maintain respect for the uniform but its becoming increasingly difficult. I am under no illusions that they are here to protect me. They are here to police me. Does that make me a subject?
I think we as Canadians and more so as humans have sowed a wind and now we are reaping the whirlwind. The great societal experiment that is liberalism is finally manifesting itself. Canada isn't the only one in this position and I would submit that every country in the world that once stood for something great finds itself in the same place if not worse. I just spent a couple weeks stateside and they are fighting the same fight and they have a very clear constitution. The previous status quo is now the minority. But hey, at least we're multicultural and pro everything. Almost. It gives me little hope for our sport, having no right to bear arms in our constitution.
I have read other posts where guys have said "this is our hill"...... I think they're right. I don't think the only thing at stake is our guns though. When an unelected official is making policy that makes me a criminal overnight, who really is in the driver seat of the country? When they decide next year that the religion I practice is unacceptable or perhaps the colour of my skin is wrong what then? I know I know, this is tin foil hat talk right? What we are seeing being done now was tin foil talk five years ago too. I think the only way our fight is winnable is to get anybody that enjoys any kind of freedom behind us. The zombies that enjoy the police state utopia will never be on our side and that's a growwing chunk of our population, we are the minority. We require unity.
I believe the near future will define an important time in our national history. I know as a community we are upset at the theft of our rights and property but this picture is way bigger than the guns. It's time to stand up. This is our hill!!!
