Yeah, life’s been rough. I have a lot of first world problems.Me too if it gets me a big garage, golf cart, boat, and lift![]()
On the plus side, my rear shocks don’t fall off everytime I go to Colorado.Yeah, life’s been rough. I have a lot of first world problems.
Hey,Redid my rear camera this weekend. I had a couple connectors fail due to poor craftsmanship/quality on the Deutsch connectors. A couple things I noticed:
I used an RCA to wire pair connector like this:

While this was not my issue, I don't like this thing as the wires are small and the screws could vibrate loose. I did wire splice the OEM 24 AWG wires to some 20 AWG I had just to get a little more meat for the screws. However, I think using one of these things and splicing with solder/shrink wrap splice would be much better:

I've order a pair of these to just to have for when/if the screw thing fails.
Another thing I noticed while troubleshooting with my multimeter was that the OEM power wire supply a constant 6V, no matter the gearshift position. I thought that the trigger circuit would turn that power supply on and off based on gear (reverse). Now, I'm curious how the OEM circuit triggers the camera. It has to be via the coax somehow or maybe the camera is really always on and sending an image to the HU and the "trigger switch" just shuts the image on and off? If that's true, it seems like you could find another always on 12v power supply and skip the 6v to 12v step up transformer.
thanks. not sure what happened there. I edited my last post to fix it. Let me know if it still doesn't work.Hey,
maybe it's just me, but your attachments aren't visible. I'm guessing it's a permissions thing where not everyone on the forum can seem them. And your Amazon link is to a cart, which I'm sure only you can see.
