Nope, got screwed, so now I'm back at the starting line and pissed. Was going to pick up an Arm & Hammer 425lber and the guy said he sold it even though he knew I was on my way. WTF, I was only 1 hour from him. I should opened a can of Whoopass on him, but figured it wasn't worth it. I'm ticked though.

Nope, not all the same. Plus, even a good one can be damaged if abused. If used right, you basically get two strikes to the work for your labor, one with your hammer and one from the anvil.

I was checking out used I-Beams at a place in Conshohocken Pa today and the guy has an old anvil. It was about
3.75"w x 11"h x 21" long attached to a large cube of wood. He also had two small annealing furnaces and a squirrel table. Interested?

I had my deck surface ground to clean it up (dings, chips etc). Ideally, I have to spend another hour buffing out the fine circular grind marks but the unit is dead flat now (for a 90 year old piece thats good) and I still have plenty of the spring steel top to work on.

...maybe..

What do you guys do that you need a big anvil? or a horned anvil at all?

just curious.

also i had no idea anvil was such a big business, 1000 plus would be another cruiser.

Figures, I finally get my anvil last week. Peter Wright btw, and this past weekend I got about 1,000 lbs worth of free rail from a yard. :doh:
