Ok, so this is the best way I know how to contact you all. I came to the November club meeting to present what 180parts.com was doing and to find out how best to serve your club. I had some great feedback and some good questions.

I looked in the budget and at least for this year we won't be able to sponsor the CLC Christmas party.

On another note I had a few of you ask about selling just one or two items every 6 months. We've been working on how that would look. There were a couple different ways we were looking at solving this. One was to charge per item per month to post the items and then charge the small transaction fee. This was going to require a bunch of program changes and therefore could be possible, but was not going to be available until next year (Jan/Feb). The better solution was to create a new store type that didn't have a monthly charge and then increase the transaction fee to offset our costs.

This second solution is the one that we're going to use. This gives you the seller a few advantages if you only have a couple of items and you're not sure they will move quickly.

-No monthly fee
-Seller only pays when the item sells
-Low flat rate transaction fee is the same whether you're selling a $50 tire or a $1000 engine

I know this solution won't fit everyone's needs, that's why we have the other stores. If this works out for a lot of people we may expand it to include a larger number of parts per store, but we'll start with 3.

Here's what it will look like:

Monthly advertising fee: FREE!!
# of parts posted at one time: up to 3
Fee / item sold: $2.50

Ok, time to give me some feedback on this. What do you think?

First, I didn't know you were thinking of sponsoring the Christmas party, nice gesture but unnecessary.

I like the option you proposed for infrequent sellers. I have gotten at least half a dozen emails from my Craigslist ad by folks wanting to buy my welding gas cylinder and they have all flaked out.

The whole Christmas party thing was a joke from the meeting. I don't recall who, but someone suggested, in jest, that 180parts sponsor the party.

Bummer about the response on your CL ad for your welding tank.

The new option for infrequent sellers (Post 3 Free) will be available by tomorrow. On another note we're considering eliminating the 'Kick the Tires Promo' at the end of the month and rolling those stores into the 'Post 3 Free' store since they all currently have less than 3 items for sale. As one who's on the Kick the Tires Promo store does that sound like a bad deal for you?
