Hi All:

"Poldo," great work! I finished a 2/3rds body tub swap on my FJ40 in June, so I have an idea of what you are going through!

Though not a big fan of the "diamond plate" look I'll admitt it looks good with outside yellow paint/back inside paint.

Keep up the good work, and hope you enjoy driving your rig soon!

Regards,

Alan

Thanks Alan ... I totally agree on diamond plate it came from the PO and to be honest that was my only reference when I fabricated the rear and quarter panels that is why I kept it but it is going to be painted yellow by the end of the week

You did some beautiful work to make a nice cruiser out of something that a lot of people wouldn't think could ever be on or off road again. Nice!

If you find later that the paint comes off too easy spraying rattlecan clear enamel over it can help.

There's also a paint that's sold in West Marine called Interlux single part eurathane "Brightside" that's awesome tough. It's a lot less toxic than Imron and a single sprayed coat with no reducer or hardener will give a very hard glossy finish that needs a grinder to remove. I've used it on saltwater boat hulls and think it'll be great for trail beating. Costs about $25. a quart though, and comes in only maybe a dozen colors of the kind that yaughties would like. Spays nice out of the can through a # 1.3 tip or bigger.

ed: one of the colors is "Sunflower Yellow" :)

Thanks good tip, I looked up the INterlux stuff loooks impressive
I did spray on the " clear coat" from zero rust which made a huge difference it just took so long for the base color to dry that by the time I finished assembling all the parts I painted I ended up with many scratches
but the advantage of the rattle can is that touch up is effortless I'll try the clear enamel after I tuoched up the "scratches"
I also found a Rubberized Epoxy Coating for marine application at a Gander mountain store but I forgot the name of it it sounds like a brush on bed liner
at $50 per gallon I wonder how though it is and if it is soundproofing as well
I might give it a shot and spray it on the underside to reduce the engine noise
oh and it will prevent zebra mussels and barnicles from growing on your cruiser :)
